Jesus Heals a Paralytic

And going on board the ship, he passed over and came to his own city.

Ісус знову сів у човен і, перепливши озеро, повернувся назад до Свого міста.

And behold, they brought to him a paralytic, laid upon a bed; and Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, Be of good courage, child; thy sins are forgiven.

І принесли люди до Нього паралізованого чоловіка, який лежав у ліжку. Побачивши, як сильно вони вірують, Ісус мовив до немічного: «Сину Мій, гріхи твої прощені».

And behold, certain of the scribes said to themselves, This [man] blasphemes.

Деякі книжники почули, що сказав Ісус, та почали говорити поміж собою: «Він зневажає Бога Своїми словами!»

And Jesus, seeing their thoughts, said, Why do *ye* think evil things in your hearts?

4

Оскільки Ісус знав думки їхні, то сказав їм: «Чому такі недобрі думки в серцях ваших?

5

For which is easier: to say, Thy sins are forgiven; or to say, Rise up and walk?

Що легше сказати: „Твої гріхи прощені!” чи „Вставай і ходи?”

But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, (then he says to the paralytic,) Rise up, take up thy bed and go to thy house.

6

Але Я доведу вам, що Син Людський має владу на землі прощати гріхи». І мовив Він до паралізованого: «Вставай, бери постіль свою і йди додому!»

And he rose up and went to his house.

7

Вставши, немічний подався додому.

But the crowds seeing [it], were in fear, and glorified God who gave such power to men.

Коли люди побачили це, то вони були приголомшені, і почали хвалити Бога за те, що Господь дав Людині таку силу.

Jesus Calls Matthew

And Jesus, passing on thence, saw a man sitting at the tax-office, called Matthew, and says to him, Follow me. And he rose up and followed him.

Коли Ісус ішов звідти, то побачив чоловіка на ім’я Матвій, який сидів у будці, збираючи податки. Ісус сказав йому: «Слідуй за Мною!» Тож Матвій встав і вирушив за Ним.

And it came to pass, as he lay at table in the house, that behold, many tax-gatherers and sinners came and lay at table with Jesus and his disciples.

І сталося так, що коли Ісус їв у домі Матвія, багато збирачів податків та грішників прийшло, і посідали вони за стіл разом з Ісусом і Його учнями.

And the Pharisees seeing [it], said to his disciples, Why does your teacher eat with tax-gatherers and sinners?

11

Побачивши те, фарисеї почали питати Ісусових учнів: «Чому ваш Учитель їсть за одним столом зі збирачами податків та грішниками?»

12

But [Jesus] hearing it, said, They that are strong have not need of a physician, but those that are ill.

12

Почувши це, Ісус сказав їм: «Не здоровим потрібен лікар, а хворим.

13

But go and learn what [that] is -- I will have mercy and not sacrifice; for I have not come to call righteous [men] but sinners.

13

Отож ідіть і поміркуйте, що означають ці слова: „Я хочу милосердя, а не пожертв”, бо Я прийшов, щоб покликати не праведників, а грішників до покаяння».

Jesus Questioned about Fasting

Then come to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees often fast, but thy disciples fast not?

Тоді учні Іоана підійшли до Ісуса й запитали Його: «Чому ми й фарисеї часто постимося, а Твої учні — ні?»

15

And Jesus said to them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn so long as the bridegroom is with them? But days will come when the bridegroom will have been taken away from them, and then they will fast.

Ісус відповів на те: «Чи бачили ви колись, щоб друзі нареченого постилися на весіллі, поки молодий ще з ними? Та прийде час, коли молодий залишить їх, тоді вони й засумують і почнуть поститися.

16

The Patches and Wineskins

But no one puts a patch of new cloth on an old garment, for its filling up takes from the garment and a worse rent takes place.

До старої одежі не пришивають латки з неусадженої тканини, бо вона збіжиться й відірветься від старої тканини і діра буде ще більшою.

17

Nor do men put new wine into old skins, otherwise the skins burst and the wine is poured out, and the skins will be destroyed; but they put new wine into new skins, and both are preserved together.

Ніхто не наливає молоде вино в старі міхи, бо вони розірвуться, тож вино розіллється, а міхи зіпсуються. Навпаки, нового вина потрібні нові міхи, щоб зберегти і одне і друге».

18

The Healing Touch of Jesus

As he spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler coming in did homage to him, saying, My daughter has by this died; but come and lay thy hand upon her and she shall live.

Поки Ісус усе це казав, до Нього прийшов голова синагоги, і впавши долілиць, мовив: «Щойно померла моя донька, прийди та торкнутися рукою Своєю до неї, щоб вона ожила».

19

And Jesus rose up and followed him, and [so did] his disciples.

19

Тоді Ісус встав і рушив за ним разом зі Своїми учнями.

20

And behold, a woman, who had had a bloody flux [for] twelve years, came behind and touched the hem of his garment;

20

У натовпі, що йшов за ними, була жінка, яка вже дванадцять років страждала від кровотечі. Вона підійшла до Ісуса ззаду й торкнулася краю Його плаща.

21

for she said within herself, If I should only touch his garment I shall be healed.

21

Вона зробила так, бо сказала собі: «Якщо я торкнуся Його одягу, то одужаю».

22

But Jesus turning and seeing her, said, Be of good courage, daughter; thy faith has healed thee. And the woman was healed from that hour.

22

Озирнувшись, Ісус побачив її і сказав: «Будь щаслива, дочко! Віра твоя зцілила тебе!» І жінка одразу одужала.

23

And when Jesus was come to the house of the ruler, and saw the flute-players and the crowd making a tumult,

Коли Ісус прийшов до оселі Яїра, Він побачив музиків, які грали похоронні мелодії, та приголомшених людей. Ісус сказав: «Вийдіть! Вона не померла, а просто спить». Почувши це, люди почали насміхатися з Нього.

he said, Withdraw, for the damsel is not dead, but sleeps. And they derided him.

25

But when the crowd had been put out, he went in and took her hand; and the damsel rose up.

Коли ж їх прогнали, Ісус увійшов до кімнати, взяв за руку дівчинку, й вона встала.

26

And the fame of it went out into all that land.

26

Чутки про це розійшлися по всій тій країні.

Jesus Heals Two Blind Men

And as Jesus passed on thence, two blind [men] followed him, crying and saying, Have mercy on us, Son of David.

27

Коли Ісус подався звідти, двоє сліпців ішли слідом за Ним і кричали: «Сину Давидів, змилуйся над нами!»

28

And when he was come to the house, the blind [men] came to him. And Jesus says to them, Do ye believe that I am able to do this? They say to him, Yea, Lord.

28

І коли Він увійшов у дім, сліпці наблизилися до Нього. Тоді Ісус мовив до них: «Чи вірите ви в те, що Я знову зможу зробити вас зрячими?» Ті відповіли: «Так, Господи».

29

Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith, be it unto you.

29

Ісус торкнувся їхніх очей і сказав: «Оскільки вірите, що Я зможу зробити вас зрячими, то ж так тому і бути».

30

And their eyes were opened; and Jesus charged them sharply, saying, See, let no man know it.

30

І зір повернувся до них. Та Ісус суворо застеріг їх, кажучи: «Нехай же ніхто про це не дізнається».

31

But they, when they were gone out, spread his name abroad in all that land.

31

Але коли вони пішли, то рознесли чутку про це по всіх усюдах.

Jesus Heals a Mute Man

But as these were going out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed by a demon.

32

В той час, коли вони виходили, до Ісуса привели німого чоловіка, одержимого нечистим духом.

33

And the demon having been cast out, the dumb spake. And the crowds were astonished, saying, It has never been seen thus in Israel.

33

Тільки-но Ісус вигнав біса з нього, як німий почав говорити. Люди в натовпі здивувалися, мовивши: «Нічого подібного ще не траплялося в Ізраїлі».

34

But the Pharisees said, He casts out the demons through the prince of the demons.

34

Та фарисеї казали: «Він виганяє нечистих владою володаря демонів!»

The Sheep and the Harvest

And Jesus went round all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the glad tidings of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every bodily weakness.

35

Ісус ходив усіма містами та селами, навчаючи в синагогах, проповідуючи Євангелію про Царство Боже, виліковуючи всі хвороби та недуги.

36

But when he saw the crowds he was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed, and cast away as sheep not having a shepherd.

Коли Він бачив натовпи людей, співчуття до них проймало Його, бо були вони знесилені й безпорадні, наче вівці без пастуха.

37

Then saith he to his disciples, The harvest [is] great and the workmen [are] few;

37

Тоді Ісус сказав Своїм учням: «Жнива великі, та мало робітників.

38

supplicate therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth workmen unto his harvest.

38

Отже, моліться Господу, власникові врожаю, щоб послав робітників на Свої жнива».
