  • And he says to the man who had his hand dried up, Rise up [and come] into the midst.
  • He said to the man with the withered hand, “Get up and come forward!”
  • And he says to them, Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill? But they were silent.
  • And He said to them, “Is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to kill?” But they kept silent.
  • And looking round upon them with anger, distressed at the hardening of their heart, he says to the man, Stretch out thy hand. And he stretched [it] out, and his hand was restored.
  • After looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

  • And he spoke to his disciples, in order that a little ship should wait upon him on account of the crowd, that they might not press upon him.
  • And He told His disciples that a boat should stand ready for Him because of the crowd, so that they would not crowd Him;
  • For he healed many, so that they beset him that they might touch him, as many as had plagues.
  • for He had healed many, with the result that all those who had afflictions pressed around Him in order to touch Him.
  • And the unclean spirits, when they beheld him, fell down before him, and cried saying, *Thou* art the Son of God.
  • Whenever the unclean spirits saw Him, they would fall down before Him and shout, “You are the Son of God!”
  • And he rebuked them much, that they might not make him manifest.
  • And He earnestly warned them not to tell who He was.
  • The Twelve Apostles

    And he goes up into the mountain, and calls whom he himself would, and they went to him.

  • The Twelve Are Chosen

    And He went up on the mountain and summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him.
  • And he appointed twelve that they might be with him, and that he might send them to preach,
  • And He appointed twelve, so that they would be with Him and that He could send them out to preach,
  • and to have power [to heal diseases, and] to cast out demons.

  • and James, the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James (to them He gave the name Boanerges, which means, “Sons of Thunder”);
  • and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the [son] of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Cananaean,

    And again a crowd comes together, so that they cannot even eat bread.
  • And He came home, and the crowd gathered again, to such an extent that they could not even eat a meal.
  • And his relatives having heard [of it] went out to lay hold on him, for they said, He is out of his mind.
  • When His own people heard of this, they went out to take custody of Him; for they were saying, “He has lost His senses.”
  • And the scribes who had come down from Jerusalem said, He has Beelzebub, and, By the prince of the demons he casts out demons.
  • The scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons.”
  • And having called them to [him], he said to them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?
  • And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan?
  • And if a kingdom has become divided against itself, that kingdom cannot subsist.
  • “If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
  • And if a house has become divided against itself, that house cannot subsist.
  • “If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.
  • And if Satan rise up against himself, and is divided, he cannot subsist, but has an end.
  • “If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished!
  • But no one can, having entered into his house, plunder the goods of the strong [man] unless he first bind the strong [man], and then he will plunder his house.
  • “But no one can enter the strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.
  • The Unpardonable Sin

    Verily I say unto you, that all sins shall be forgiven to the sons of men, and all the injurious speeches [with] which they may speak injuriously;
  • “Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter;
  • but whosoever shall speak injuriously against the Holy Spirit, to eternity has no forgiveness; but lies under the guilt of an everlasting sin;
  • but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin” —
  • because they said, he has an unclean spirit.
  • because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”
  • Jesus' Mother and Brothers

    And his brethren and his mother come, and standing without sent to him calling him.

  • A crowd was sitting around Him, and they said to Him, “Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are outside looking for You.”
  • And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother or my brethren?
  • Answering them, He said, “Who are My mother and My brothers?”
  • And looking around in a circuit at those that were sitting around him, he says, Behold my mother and my brethren:
  • Looking about at those who were sitting around Him, He said, “Behold My mother and My brothers!
  • for whosoever shall do the will of God, *he* is my brother, and sister, and mother.
  • “For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother.”
