Temptations and Trespasses

And he said to his disciples, It cannot be but that offences come, but woe [to him] by whom they come!

1

Рече ж до учеників: Не можна не прийти поблазням; горе ж, через кого приходять!

2

It would be [more] profitable for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck and he cast into the sea, than that he should be a snare to one of these little ones.

2

Лучче б йому було, коли б жорно млинове почеплено на шию йому, та й укинуто в море, нїж щоб зблазнив одного з малих сих.

3

Take heed to yourselves: if thy brother should sin, rebuke him; and if he should repent, forgive him.

Озирайтесь на себе. Коли погрішить проти тебе брат твій, докори йому, й коли покаєть ся, прости йому.

4

And if he should sin against thee seven times in the day, and seven times should return to thee, saying, I repent, thou shalt forgive him.

4

І коли сїм раз на день погрішить проти тебе, й сїм раз на день обернеть ся до тебе, кажучи: Каюсь; прости йому.

The Power of Faith

And the apostles said to the Lord, Give more faith to us.

5

І казали апостоли Господеві: Прибав нам віри.

6

But the Lord said, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard [seed], ye had said to this sycamine tree, Be thou rooted up, and be thou planted in the sea, and it would have obeyed you.

Рече ж Господь: Коли б ви мали віру з зерно горчицї, то сказали б шовковинї оцїй: Викоренись і посадись у морю, то послухала б вас.

7

But which of you [is there] who, having a bondman ploughing or shepherding, when he comes in out of the field, will say, Come and lie down immediately to table?

Хто ж з вас, слугу мавши, ратая чи пастуха, як ійде з поля, скаже йому зараз: Прийшовши сїдай їсти?

8

But will he not say to him, Prepare what I shall sup on, and gird thyself and serve me that I may eat and drink; and after that *thou* shalt eat and drink?

А чи не скаже йому: Наготов менї що вечеряти, та підперезавшись послугуй менї, поки їсти му та пити му, а потім їсти меш і пити меш ти?

9

Is he thankful to the bondman because he has done what was ordered? I judge not.

9

Чи дякує тому слузї, що зробив, що звелено йому?

10

Thus *ye* also, when ye shall have done all things that have been ordered you, say, We are unprofitable bondmen; we have done what it was our duty to do.

10

Так і ви, коли зробите все, що звелено вам, кажіть: Що слуги ми нїкчемні; бо, що повинні зробити, зробили.

Jesus Heals Ten Lepers

And it came to pass as he was going up to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

11

І сталось, як ійшов Він у Єрусалим, і проходив серединою Самариї та Галилеї,

12

And as he entered into a certain village ten leprous men met him, who stood afar off.

12

і, як увійшов ув одно село, зустріло Його десять прокажених чоловіків, що стояли оддалеки.

13

And they lifted up [their] voice saying, Jesus, Master, have compassion on us.

13

І піднесли вони голос, кажучи: Ісусе, наставниче, помилуй нас.

14

And seeing [them] he said to them, Go, shew yourselves to the priests. And it came to pass as they were going they were cleansed.

14

І побачивши рече їм: Ідїть покажіть себе священикам. І сталось, як пійшли вони, очистились.

15

And one of them, seeing that he was cured, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice,

Один же з них, бачивши, що одужав, вернувсь, голосом великим прославляючи Бога,

16

and fell on [his] face at his feet giving him thanks: and *he* was a Samaritan.

16

і, припав лицем до ніг Його, дякуючи Йому; а був він Самарянин.

17

And Jesus answering said, Were not the ten cleansed? but the nine, where [are they]?

17

Озвав ся ж Ісус і рече: Чи не десять очистились? девять же де?

18

There have not been found to return and give glory to God save this stranger.

18

Не знайшлись, щоб вернувшись оддати славу Богу, тільки чужоземець сей?

19

And he said to him, Rise up and go thy way: thy faith has made thee well.

19

І рече йому: Уставши йди; віра твоя спасла тебе.

20

The Coming of the Kingdom

And having been asked by the Pharisees, When is the kingdom of God coming? he answered them and said, The kingdom of God does not come with observation;

20

Як же спитали Його Фарисеї, коли прийде царство Боже, відказав їм, і рече: Не прийде царство Боже з постереганнєм,

21

nor shall they say, Lo here, or, Lo there; for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.

21

анї казати муть: Дивись, ось воно; або: Дивись, он, бо царство Боже у вас усерединї.

22

And he said to the disciples, Days are coming, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and shall not see [it].

22

Рече ж до учеників: Прийдуть днї, що бажати мете один з днїв Сина чоловічого видїти, та й не побачите.

23

And they will say to you, Lo here, or Lo there; go not, nor follow [them].

23

І казати муть вам: Дивись, ось; або: Дивись, он; не йдїть і не ганяйтесь.

24

For as the lightning shines which lightens from [one end] under heaven to [the other end] under heaven, thus shall the Son of man be in his day.

24

Бо, як блискавиця, блиснувши з одного краю під небом, до другого краю під небом сьвітить, так буде й Син чоловічий дня свого.

25

But first he must suffer many things and be rejected of this generation.

25

Перше ж мусить Він багато терпіти, й відцураєть ся Його рід сей.

26

And as it took place in the days of Noe, thus also shall it be in the days of the Son of man:

26

І як сталось за днїв Ноя, так буде й за днїв Сина чоловічого.

27

they ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed all [of them];

27

Їли, пили, женились, оддавались, аж до дня, як увійшов Ной у ковчег, і настав потоп, та й вигубив усїх.

28

and in like manner as took place in the days of Lot: they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

28

Так само, як сталось і за Лота; їли, пили, торгували, продавали, насаджували, будували,

29

but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and sulphur from heaven, and destroyed all [of them]:

29

которого ж дня вийшов Лот із Содома, линуло огнем та сїркою з неба та й вигубило всїх.

30

after this [manner] shall it be in the day that the Son of man is revealed.

30

Так же буде й в день, котрого Син чоловічий відкриєть ся.

31

In that day, he who shall be on the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not go down to take it away; and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

31

Того дня, хто буде на криші, а надібє його в хатї, нехай не злазить узяти його; й хто на полї, так само нехай не вертаєть ся назад.

Remember the wife of Lot.

32

Спогадайте Лотову жінку.

33

Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose it shall preserve it.

33

Коли хто шукати ме душу свою спасти, погубить її, а хто погубить її, оживить її.

34

I say to you, In that night there shall be two [men] upon one bed; one shall be seized and the other shall be let go.

34

Глаголю вам, тієї ночі буде двоє на однім ліжку; один візьметь ся, а другий зоставить ся.

35

Two [women] shall be grinding together; the one shall be seized and the other shall be let go.

35

Дві молоти муть укупі; одна візьметь ся, а друга зоставить ся.

36

[Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be seized and the other let go.]

36

Двоє будуть у полї; один візьметь ся, а другий зоставить ся.

37

And answering they say to him, Where, Lord? And he said to them, Where the body [is], there the eagles will be gathered together.

37

І озвавшись кажуть до Него: Де, Господи? Він же рече їм: Де тїло, там збирати муть ся орли.
