Temptations and Trespasses

And he said to his disciples, It cannot be but that offences come, but woe [to him] by whom they come!

1

А до Своїх учнів Він промовив: Неможливо, щоби спокуси не прийшли, та горе тому, через кого вони приходять;

2

It would be [more] profitable for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck and he cast into the sea, than that he should be a snare to one of these little ones.

2

йому було б краще почепити жорновий камінь на свою шию і кинутися в море, ніж щоби спокусив одного із цих малих.

3

Take heed to yourselves: if thy brother should sin, rebuke him; and if he should repent, forgive him.

3

Зважайте на себе! Коли згрішить твій брат, — докори йому, а коли покається, — прости йому.

4

And if he should sin against thee seven times in the day, and seven times should return to thee, saying, I repent, thou shalt forgive him.

4

І якщо сім разів на день згрішить проти тебе і сім разів [на день] звернеться до тебе, кажучи: Каюся! — прости йому.

The Power of Faith

And the apostles said to the Lord, Give more faith to us.

5

І сказали апостоли Господу: Додай нам віри!

But the Lord said, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard [seed], ye had said to this sycamine tree, Be thou rooted up, and be thou planted in the sea, and it would have obeyed you.

А Господь промовив: Коли б ви мали віру, хоч як гірчичне зернятко, і повеліли б цій смоківниці: Вирви себе з корінням і посади себе в морі! — то послухала б вас.

7

But which of you [is there] who, having a bondman ploughing or shepherding, when he comes in out of the field, will say, Come and lie down immediately to table?

Хто з вас, маючи раба, який оре або пасе, скаже йому, коли він прийде з поля: Негайно йди та сідай до столу?

8

But will he not say to him, Prepare what I shall sup on, and gird thyself and serve me that I may eat and drink; and after that *thou* shalt eat and drink?

8

Але хіба не скаже йому: Приготуй щось поїсти, підпережися і прислуговуй, поки я наїмся і нап’юся, а потім ти їстимеш і питимеш?

9

Is he thankful to the bondman because he has done what was ordered? I judge not.

9

Чи подякує він рабові, який виконав наказане? [Не думаю].

10

Thus *ye* also, when ye shall have done all things that have been ordered you, say, We are unprofitable bondmen; we have done what it was our duty to do.

10

Так і ви, коли зробите все наказане вам, кажіть: Ми, нікчемні раби, зробили те, що повинні були зробити!

Jesus Heals Ten Lepers

And it came to pass as he was going up to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

11

І сталося, як ішов Він до Єрусалима, то проходив через Самарію і Галилею.

12

And as he entered into a certain village ten leprous men met him, who stood afar off.

12

І як входив Він до одного села, зустріли Його десять прокажених мужів, які стали здалека.

13

And they lifted up [their] voice saying, Jesus, Master, have compassion on us.

13

Вони піднесли голос, гукаючи: Ісусе, Наставнику, помилуй нас!

14

And seeing [them] he said to them, Go, shew yourselves to the priests. And it came to pass as they were going they were cleansed.

14

Побачивши їх, Він сказав: Підіть і покажіться священикам! І сталося так, що коли вони йшли, — очистилися.

15

And one of them, seeing that he was cured, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice,

Один з них, побачивши, що видужав, повернувся, прославляючи Бога гучним голосом,

16

and fell on [his] face at his feet giving him thanks: and *he* was a Samaritan.

16

упав обличчям до ніг Його, дякуючи Йому; це був самарієць.

17

And Jesus answering said, Were not the ten cleansed? but the nine, where [are they]?

17

У відповідь Ісус сказав: Хіба не десять очистилося? А де ж дев’ять?

18

There have not been found to return and give glory to God save this stranger.

18

Не здогадалися повернутися, щоб віддати славу Богові, а тільки цей чужинець?

19

And he said to him, Rise up and go thy way: thy faith has made thee well.

19

І сказав Він йому: Підведися і йди; твоя віра тебе спасла.

20

The Coming of the Kingdom

And having been asked by the Pharisees, When is the kingdom of God coming? he answered them and said, The kingdom of God does not come with observation;

20

А як фарисеї запитали: Коли прийде Боже Царство? — Він відповів їм і сказав: Боже Царство не прийде помітно,

21

nor shall they say, Lo here, or, Lo there; for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.

21

і не скажуть: Ось тут воно, або там! Адже Боже Царство всередині вас!

22

And he said to the disciples, Days are coming, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and shall not see [it].

22

І сказав учням: Настануть дні, коли забажаєте побачити один із днів Людського Сина, — та не побачите.

23

And they will say to you, Lo here, or Lo there; go not, nor follow [them].

23

І скажуть вам: Ось тут! — або: Ось там! — не виходьте і не біжіть слідом.

24

For as the lightning shines which lightens from [one end] under heaven to [the other end] under heaven, thus shall the Son of man be in his day.

24

Адже як блискавка, блиснувши, світить від краю до краю неба, — так буде і Людський Син Свого дня.

25

But first he must suffer many things and be rejected of this generation.

25

Та спершу Він має багато постраждати і бути відкинутим цим родом.

26

And as it took place in the days of Noe, thus also shall it be in the days of the Son of man:

26

І як було за днів Ноя, так буде і за днів Людського Сина:

27

they ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed all [of them];

27

їли, пили, женилися, виходили заміж — до дня, коли ввійшов Ной до ковчега; і настав потоп, і вигубив усіх.

28

and in like manner as took place in the days of Lot: they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

28

Так само, як було за днів Лота: їли, пили, купували, продавали, садили, будували,

29

but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and sulphur from heaven, and destroyed all [of them]:

29

а того дня, коли Лот вийшов із Содома, вогонь і сірка впали з неба і вигубили всіх.

30

after this [manner] shall it be in the day that the Son of man is revealed.

30

Так буде в день, коли з’явиться Людський Син.

31

In that day, he who shall be on the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not go down to take it away; and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

31

Того дня, хто буде на даху, а речі його в домі, хай не сходить взяти їх, а хто на полі, також хай не повертається назад.

Remember the wife of Lot.

Згадайте дружину Лота.

33

Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose it shall preserve it.

33

Хто лише прагнутиме душу свою зберегти, він погубить її, а хто погубить, той оживить її.

34

I say to you, In that night there shall be two [men] upon one bed; one shall be seized and the other shall be let go.

34

Кажу вам: тієї ночі будуть двоє на одному ліжку, — одного візьмуть, а другого залишать;

35

Two [women] shall be grinding together; the one shall be seized and the other shall be let go.

35

будуть дві разом молоти, — одну візьмуть, а другу залишать.

36

[Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be seized and the other let go.]

36

[Двоє будуть на полі, — одного візьмуть, а другого залишать].

37

And answering they say to him, Where, Lord? And he said to them, Where the body [is], there the eagles will be gathered together.

37

І кажуть Йому у відповідь: Де, Господи? А Він відповів їм: Де труп, там зберуться і орли.
