Jesus Washes the Disciples' Feet

Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus, knowing that his hour had come that he should depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, loved them to the end.

Перед сьвятом же пасхи, знаючи Ісус, що прийшла Його година, щоб зійти з сьвіту сього до Отця, — любивши своїх, що були в сьвітї, до кінця любив їх.

And during supper, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas [son] of Simon, Iscariote, that he should deliver him up,

І по вечері, як диявол уже вкинув у серце Юди Симонового Іскариоцького, щоб Його зрадив,

3

[Jesus,] knowing that the Father had given him all things into his hands, and that he came out from God and was going to God,

знаючи Ісус, що все дав Йому Отець у руки, й що від Бога вийшов, і до Бога йде,

4

rises from supper and lays aside his garments, and having taken a linen towel he girded himself:

4

устає зза вечері і скидає одежу; і, взявши рушник, підперезавсь.

5

then he pours water into the washhand basin, and began to wash the feet of the disciples, and to wipe them with the linen towel with which he was girded.

5

Після того налив води в умивальницю, та й почав обмивати ноги ученикам та обтирати рушником, котрим був підперезаний.

6

He comes therefore to Simon Peter; and *he* says to him, Lord, dost thou wash *my* feet?

Приходить же до Симона Петра, й каже Йому той: Господи, Ти обмиваєш ноги мої?

7

Jesus answered and said to him, What I do thou dost not know now, but thou shalt know hereafter.

7

Відказав Ісус, і рече Йому: Що я роблю, ти не знаєш тепер, зрозумієш же опісля.

8

Peter says to him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, Unless I wash thee, thou hast not part with me.

Каже Йому Петр: Не мити меш ніг моїх до віку. Відказав йому Ісус: Як не обмию тебе, не мати меш части зо мною.

9

Simon Peter says to him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

9

Каже Йому Симон Петр: Господи, не тільки ноги мої, та й руки й голову.

10

Jesus says to him, He that is washed all over needs not to wash save his feet, but is wholly clean; and ye are clean, but not all.

10

Рече йому Ісус: Обмитому не треба, як тільки ноги мити, а чистий увесь. І ви чисті, та не всї.

11

For he knew him that delivered him up: on account of this he said, Ye are not all clean.

11

Знав бо зрадника свого; тим і сказав: Не всї ви чисті.

12

When therefore he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, having sat down again, he said to them, Do ye know what I have done to you?

12

Як же пообмивав ноги їх і взяв одежу свою, сївши знов, рече їм: Чи знаєте, що зробив я вам?

13

Ye call me the Teacher and the Lord, and ye say well, for I am [so].

13

Ви звете мене Учителем і Господом, і добре кажете, се бо я.

14

If I therefore, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another's feet;

14

Коли ж я помив вам ноги, Господь і Учитель, то й ви повинні один одному обмивати ноги.

15

for I have given you an example that, as I have done to you, ye should do also.

15

Приклад бо дав вам, і як я зробив вам, і ви робіть.

16

Verily, verily, I say to you, The bondman is not greater than his lord, nor the sent greater than he who has sent him.

16

Істино, істино глаголю вам: Не єсть слуга більший пана свого, анї посланець більший пославшого його.

17

If ye know these things, blessed are ye if ye do them.

17

Коли се знаєте, то блаженні ви, коли робити мете се.

18

Jesus Predicts His Betrayal

I speak not of you all. I know those whom I have chosen; but that the scripture might be fulfilled, He that eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.

18

Не про всїх вас глаголю: я знаю кого вибрав; та щоб писаннє справдилось: Хто їсть зо мною хлїб, підняв на мене пяту свою.

19

I tell you [it] now before it happens, that when it happens, ye may believe that I am [he].

19

Від нинї глаголю вам, перше нїж стало ся, щоб, як станеть ся, увірували, що се я.

20

Verily, verily, I say to you, He who receives whomsoever I shall send receives me; and he that receives me receives him who has sent me.

20

Істино, істино глаголю вам: Хто приймає, коли я кого пішлю, мене приймає; а хто мене приймає, приймає Пославшого мене.

21

Having said these things, Jesus was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, Verily, verily, I say to you, that one of you shall deliver me up.

21

Се промовивши Ісус, зворушив ся духом, і сьвідкував і рече: Істино, істино глаголю вам, що один із вас ізрадить мене.

22

The disciples therefore looked one on another, doubting of whom he spoke.

22

Ззирались тодї між собою ученики, сумнїваючись, про кого Він говорить.

23

Now there was at table one of his disciples in the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus loved.

23

Був же за столом один із учеників Його на лонї Ісусовім, котрого любив Ісус.

24

Simon Peter makes a sign therefore to him to ask who it might be of whom he spoke.

24

Сьому кивнув Симон Петр, щоб спитав, хто б се був, про кого говорить.

25

But he, leaning on the breast of Jesus, says to him, Lord, who is it?

25

Пригорнувшись той до грудей Ісусових, каже Йому: Господи, хто се?

26

Jesus answers, He it is to whom I, after I have dipped the morsel, give it. And having dipped the morsel, he gives it to Judas [son] of Simon, Iscariote.

26

Відказав Ісус: Той, кому я, умочивши кусок, подам. І, вмочивши кусок, дав Юдї Симонову Іскариоцькому.

27

And, after the morsel, then entered Satan into him. Jesus therefore says to him, What thou doest, do quickly.

27

А за куском увійшов тодї в него сатана. Рече ж йому Ісус: Що робиш, роби швидко.

28

But none of those at table knew why he said this to him;

28

Сього не зрозумів нїхто, що сидїли за столом, проти чого сказав йому.

29

for some supposed, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus was saying to him, Buy the things of which we have need for the feast; or that he should give something to the poor.

29

Деякі бо думали, — яко ж бо скриньку мав Юда, — що каже йому Ісус: купи, що треба нам про сьвято; або, щоб що дав убогим.

30

Having therefore received the morsel, he went out immediately; and it was night.

30

Узявши ж він кусок, зараз вийшов; була ж ніч.

31

A New Command I Give You

When therefore he was gone out Jesus says, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

31

Як же вийшов, рече Ісус: Тепер прославив ся Син чоловічий, й Бог прославив ся в Йому.

32

If God be glorified in him, God also shall glorify him in himself, and shall glorify him immediately.

32

Коли Бог прославив ся в Йому, то Бог прославить і Його в собі, і скоро прославить Його.

33

Children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me; and, as I said to the Jews, Where I go ye cannot come, I say to you also now.

33

Дїтки! ще короткий час я з вами. Шукати мете мене, і яко ж казав я Жидам: Що, куди йду я, ви не можете йти, і вам глаголю тепер.

34

A new commandment I give to you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

34

Заповідь нову даю вам: щоб любили один одного. Як я любив вас, щоб і ви любили один одного.

35

By this shall all know that ye are disciples of mine, if ye have love amongst yourselves.

35

По сьому знати муть усї, що ви мої ученики, коли любов мати мете один до одного.

36

Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial

Simon Peter says to him, Lord, where goest thou? Jesus answered him, Where I go thou canst not follow me now, but thou shalt follow me after.

36

Рече Йому Симон Петр: Господи, куди йдеш? Відказав йому Ісус: Куди йду, не можеш тепер за мною йти; опісля ж пійдеш за мною.

37

Peter says to him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thee.

37

Каже Йому Петр: Господи, чому не можу за Тобою йти тепер? Душу мою за Тебе положу.

38

Jesus answers, Thou wilt lay down thy life for me! Verily, verily, I say to thee, The cock shall not crow till thou hast denied me thrice.

38

Відказав йому Ісус: Душу твою за мене положиш? Істино, істино глаголю тобі: не запіє півень, доки мене відречеш ся тричі.
