Jesus Comforts the Disciples

Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe on God, believe also on me.

1

Хай не тривожиться ваше серце: вірте в Бога і в Мене вірте.

2

In my Father's house there are many abodes; were it not so, I had told you: for I go to prepare you a place;

2

У домі Мого Отця багато осель. А якби не так, то Я сказав би вам, оскільки йду приготувати вам місце.

3

and if I go and shall prepare you a place, I am coming again and shall receive you to myself, that where I am ye also may be.

І коли піду та приготую вам місце, то Я знову прийду і візьму вас до Себе, щоби де Я, там і ви були.

4

And ye know where I go, and ye know the way.

4

А куди Я йду, ви дорогу знаєте.

The Way, the Truth, and the Life

Thomas says to him, Lord, we know not where thou goest, and how can we know the way?

Каже Йому Хома: Господи, ми не знаємо, куди Ти йдеш. [Тож] як можемо знати дорогу?

Jesus says to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father unless by me.

Ісус говорить йому: Я є дорога, і правда, і життя! Ніхто не приходить до Отця, якщо не через Мене.

7

If ye had known me, ye would have known also my Father, and henceforth ye know him and have seen him.

Якби ви Мене знали, то знали б і Мого Отця. Відтепер знаєте Його і бачили Його!

Philip says to him, Lord, shew us the Father and it suffices us.

Каже Йому Филип: Господи, покажи нам Отця, — і цього нам вистачить.

Jesus says to him, Am I so long a time with you, and thou hast not known me, Philip? He that has seen me has seen the Father; and how sayest thou, Shew us the Father?

Говорить йому Ісус: Стільки часу Я з вами, і ти не знаєш Мене, Филипе? Хто Мене бачив, той і Отця бачив. Як же ти говориш: Покажи нам Отця?

10

Believest thou not that I [am] in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words which I speak to you I do not speak from myself; but the Father who abides in me, he does the works.

Хіба ти не віриш, що Я є в Отці, й Отець є в Мені? Слова, які Я кажу вам, не від Себе кажу. Отець, Який у Мені перебуває, — Він і творить ті діла.

11

Believe *me* that I [am] in the Father and the Father in me; but if not, believe me for the works' sake themselves.

Вірте Мені, що Я в Отці, а Отець у Мені. Якщо ж ні, то через Мої діла повірте [Мені].

12

Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believes on me, the works which I do shall he do also, and he shall do greater than these, because I go to the Father.

Знову й знову запевняю вас, що той, хто вірить у Мене, робитиме діла, які Я роблю, — навіть більші від них чинитиме, бо Я іду до Отця.

13

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, this will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

13

І що тільки попросите в Моє Ім’я, те й зроблю, щоби прославився Отець у Сині.

14

If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.

14

Коли Мене про щось попросите в Моє Ім’я, — Я те зроблю.

15

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

If ye love me, keep my commandments.

15

Якщо любите Мене, ви будете дотримуватися Моїх заповідей.

16

And I will beg the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever,

16

І Я попрошу Отця, і дасть вам іншого Утішителя, щоб навіки перебував з вами, —

17

the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see him nor know him; but ye know him, for he abides with you, and shall be in you.

17

Духа Істини, Якого світ не може прийняти, бо не бачить Його і не знає [Його]. А ви знаєте Його, бо Він при вас перебуває, і у вас буде Він.

18

I will not leave you orphans, I am coming to you.

18

Я не залишу вас сиротами, Я прийду до вас.

19

Yet a little and the world sees me no longer; but ye see me; because I live ye also shall live.

19

Ще трохи, і світ більше не побачить Мене. Ви ж будете бачити Мене, бо Я живу, і ви будете жити.

20

In that day ye shall know that I [am] in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

20

Того дня ви пізнаєте, що Я в Моєму Отці, і ви в Мені, і Я у вас.

21

He that has my commandments and keeps them, he it is that loves me; but he that loves me shall be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will manifest myself to him.

21

Хто має Мої заповіді та виконує їх, той Мене любить. А хто Мене любить, того любитиме і Мій Отець, і Я любитиму його, і з’явлюся йому Сам.

22

Judas, not the Iscariote, says to him, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself to us and not to the world?

22

Каже Йому Юда, — не Іскаріотський: Господи, чому це так, що Ти маєш намір з’явитися нам, а не світові?

23

Jesus answered and said to him, If any one love me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our abode with him.

23

У відповідь Ісус сказав йому: Якщо хто любить Мене, той буде виконувати Моє слово; і Мій Отець любитиме його, і Ми прийдемо до нього, і зробимо оселю в ньому.

24

He that loves me not does not keep my words; and the word which ye hear is not mine, but [that] of the Father who has sent me.

24

Хто ж не любить Мене, слів Моїх не виконує. Слово, яке ви чуєте, є не Моє, але Того, Хто послав Мене, — Отця.

25

These things I have said to you, abiding with you;

25

Це говорив Я вам, перебуваючи між вами.

26

but the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, *he* shall teach you all things, and will bring to your remembrance all the things which I have said to you.

26

А Утішитель — Дух Святий, Якого Отець пошле в Моє Ім’я, Той вас навчить усього і пригадає вам усе, що Я вам говорив.

27

Peace I Leave with You

I leave peace with you; I give *my* peace to you: not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it fear.

27

Мир залишаю вам, Мій мир Я даю вам. Не так, як світ дає, Я даю вам. Хай не тривожиться ваше серце і не лякається.

28

Ye have heard that I have said unto you, I go away and I am coming to you. If ye loved me ye would rejoice that I go to the Father, for [my] Father is greater than I.

28

Ви чули, що Я сказав вам: Я йду, але Я повернуся до вас. Якби ви любили Мене, то втішилися б, тому що [Я сказав], — іду до Отця. Адже Отець більший від Мене!

29

And now I have told you before it comes to pass, that when it shall have come to pass ye may believe.

29

Я сказав вам раніше, ніж це станеться, щоб тоді, коли воно станеться, ви повірили.

30

I will no longer speak much with you, for the ruler of the world comes, and in me he has nothing;

30

Не довго вже говоритиму з вами, бо надходить князь світу, та в Мені Він не має нічого.

31

but that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father has commanded me, thus I do. Rise up, let us go hence.

31

Але щоби зрозумів світ, що Я люблю Отця і, як заповів Мені Отець, так Я і роблю. Уставайте, ходімо звідси!
