Jesus' Warning
These things I have spoken unto you that ye may not be offended.
These things I have spoken unto you that ye may not be offended.
Оце Я сказав вам, щоб ви не спокуси́лись.
They shall put you out of the synagogues; but the hour is coming that every one who kills you will think to render service to God;
Вас виженуть із синагог. Прийде навіть година, коли кожен, хто вам смерть заподі́є, то ду́матиме, ніби службу приносить він Богові!
and these things they will do because they have not known the Father nor me.
А це́ вам учинять, бо вони не пізнали Отця, ні Мене.
But I have spoken these things to you, that when their hour shall have come, ye may remember them, that I have said [them] unto you. But I did not say these things unto you from [the] beginning, because I was with you.
Але Я це сказав вам, щоб згадали про те, про що́ говорив був Я вам, як настане година. Цього вам не казав Я споча́тку, бо з вами Я був.
The Holy Spirit Promised
But now I go to him that has sent me, and none of you demands of me, Where goest thou?
But now I go to him that has sent me, and none of you demands of me, Where goest thou?
Тепер же до Того Я йду, Хто послав Мене, — і ніхто з вас Мене не питає: „Куди йдеш?“
But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.
Та від того, що це Я сказав вам, серце ваше напо́внилось смутком.
But I say the truth to you, It is profitable for you that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I go I will send him to you.
Та Я правду кажу́ вам: Краще для вас, щоб пішов Я, бо як Я не піду́, Утіши́тель не при́йде до вас. А коли Я піду́, то пошлю вам Його.
And having come, he will bring demonstration to the world, of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
А як при́йде, Він світові виявить про гріх, і про праведність і про суд:
of righteousness, because I go away to [my] Father, and ye behold me no longer;
а про праведність, — що Я до Отця Свого йду, і Мене не побачите вже;
of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
а про суд, — що засу́джений князь цього світу.
I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now.
Я ще маю багато сказати вам, та тепер ви не можете знести.
But when *he* is come, the Spirit of truth, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but whatsoever he shall hear he shall speak; and he will announce to you what is coming.
А коли при́йде Він, Той Дух правди, Він вас попрова́дить до ці́лої правди, бо не буде казати Сам від Себе, а що тільки почує, — казатиме, і що має настати, — звістить вам.
He shall glorify me, for he shall receive of mine and shall announce [it] to you.
Він прославить Мене, бо Він ві́зьме з Мого та й вам сповісти́ть.
All things that the Father has are mine; on account of this I have said that he receives of mine and shall announce [it] to you.
Усе, що має Отець, то Моє; через те Я й сказав, що Він ві́зьме з Мого та й вам сповісти́ть.
A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, [because I go away to the Father].
Незаба́ром, — і Мене вже не бу́дете бачити, і знов незабаром — і Мене ви побачите, бо Я йду до Отця“.
The Disciples' Grief will Turn to Joy
[Some] of his disciples therefore said to one another, What is this he says to us, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, and, Because I go away to the Father?

А деякі з учнів Його говорили один до одно́го: „Що таке, що сказав Він до нас: „Незабаром, — і Мене вже не бу́дете бачити, і знов незаба́ром — і Мене ви побачите“, та: „Я йду до Отця“?
They said therefore, What is this which he says [of] the little while? We do not know [of] what he speaks.
Гомоніли також: „Що таке, що говорить: „Незаба́ром“? Про що каже, не знаємо“.
Jesus knew therefore that they desired to demand of him, and said to them, Do ye inquire of this among yourselves that I said, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me?
Ісус же пізнав, що хочуть поспитати Його, і сказав їм: „Чи про це між собою міркуєте ви, що сказав Я: „Незаба́ром, — і вже Мене бачити не будете ви, і знов незаба́ром — і Мене ви побачите“?
Verily, verily, I say to you, that ye shall weep and lament, ye, but the world shall rejoice; and ye will be grieved, but your grief shall be turned to joy.
Поправді, поправді кажу́ вам, що ви бу́дете плакати та голосити, а світ буде радіти. Сумувати ви бу́дете, але сум ваш обе́рнеться в радість!
A woman, when she gives birth to a child, has grief because her hour has come; but when the child is born, she no longer remembers the trouble, on account of the joy that a man has been born into the world.
Жу́риться жінка, що ро́дить, — бо настала година її. Як дитинку ж поро́дить вона, то вже не пам'ятає терпіння з-за ра́дощів, що людина зроди́лась на світ.
And ye now therefore have grief; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one takes from you.
Так сумуєте й ви ось тепер, та побачу вас зно́ву, — і серце ваше радітиме, і ніхто радости вашої вам не віді́йме!
Ask and You will Receive
And in that day ye shall demand nothing of me: verily, verily, I say to you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give you.
And in that day ye shall demand nothing of me: verily, verily, I say to you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give you.
Ні про що ж того дня ви Мене не спитаєте. Поправді, поправді кажу́ вам: Чого тільки попросите ви від Отця в Моє Йме́ння, — Він дасть вам.
Hitherto ye have asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
Не просили ви досі нічо́го в Ім'я́ Моє. Просіть — і отримаєте, щоб повна була ваша радість.
These things I have spoken to you in allegories; the hour is coming that I will no longer speak to you in allegories, but will declare to you openly concerning the Father.
Оце все Я в при́тчах до вас говорив. Настає́ година, коли при́тчами Я вже не бу́ду до вас промовляти, але явно звіщу́ про Отця вам.
In that day ye shall ask in my name; and I say not to you that I will demand of the Father for you,
Того дня ви проси́тимете в Моє Ймення, і Я вам не кажу́, що вблагаю Отця Я за вас, —
for the Father himself has affection for you, because ye have had affection for me, and have believed that I came out from God.
бо Отець любить Сам вас за те, що ви полюбили Мене та й увірували, що Я вийшов від Бога.
I came out from the Father and have come into the world; again, I leave the world and go to the Father.
Від Отця вийшов Я, і на світ Я прийшов. І знов покидаю Я світ та й іду до Отця“.
His disciples say to him, Lo, now thou speakest openly and utterest no allegory.
Його учні відказують: „Ось тепер Ти говориш відкрито, і жодної притчі не кажеш.
Now we know that thou knowest all things, and hast not need that any one should demand of thee. By this we believe that thou art come from God.
Тепер ві́даємо ми, що Ти знаєш усе, і потреби не маєш, щоб Тебе хто питав. Тому віруємо, що Ти вийшов від Бога!“
Behold, [the] hour is coming, and has come, that ye shall be scattered, each to his own, and shall leave me alone; and [yet] I am not alone, for the Father is with me.
Ото настає́ година, і вже настала, що ви розпоро́шитесь кожен у власне своє, а Мене ви Само́го покинете. Та не Сам Я, бо зо Мною Отець!
