The Jews therefore said to the healed [man], It is sabbath, it is not permitted thee to take up thy couch.

The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.

and so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.” -

so the Jewish leaders objected. They said to the man who was cured, “You can’t work on the Sabbath! The law doesn’t allow you to carry that sleeping mat!”

Посему Иудеи говорили исцелённому: сегодня суббота; не должно тебе брать постели.

Юдеї і кажуть до одужалого: «Субота адже ж! Не личить тобі ложе носити!»

— Сегодня суббота, и тебе нельзя нести циновку. -
Була тоді субота. Тому юдеї казали до того, хто видужав: Нині субота, і не годиться тобі носити свою постіль.
