  • The New Tablets of Stone

    At that time Jehovah said unto me, Hew for thyself two tables of stone like the first, and come up unto me into the mountain, and make thee an ark of wood;
  • New Tablets of Stone

“At that time the Lord said to me, ‘Cut for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and come up to me on the mountain and make an ark of wood.
  • and I will write on the tables the words that were on the first tables which thou didst break, and thou shalt lay them in the ark.
  • And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets that you broke, and you shall put them in the ark.’
  • And I made an ark of acacia-wood, and hewed two tables of stone like the first, and went up the mountain with the two tables in my hand.
  • So I made an ark of acacia wood, and cut two tablets of stone like the first, and went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hand.
  • And he wrote on the tables, as the first writing, the ten words which Jehovah spoke unto you on the mountain, from the midst of the fire, on the day of the assembly, and Jehovah gave them unto me.
  • And he wrote on the tablets, in the same writing as before, the Ten Commandmentsa that the Lord had spoken to you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly. And the Lord gave them to me.
  • And I turned and came down from the mountain, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; -- and they are there, as Jehovah commanded me.
  • Then I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the ark that I had made. And there they are, as the Lord commanded me.”
  • (And the children of Israel took their journey from Beeroth-Bene-Jaakan to Moserah: there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son exercised the priesthood in his stead.
  • (The people of Israel journeyed from Beeroth Bene-jaakanb to Moserah. There Aaron died, and there he was buried. And his son Eleazar ministered as priest in his place.
  • From thence they journeyed unto Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land of water-brooks.)
  • From there they journeyed to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land with brooks of water.
  • At that time Jehovah separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, to stand before Jehovah to do service unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.
  • At that time the Lord set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the Lord to stand before the Lord to minister to him and to bless in his name, to this day.
  • Therefore Levi has no portion nor inheritance with his brethren; Jehovah is his inheritance, according as Jehovah thy God told him.
  • Therefore Levi has no portion or inheritance with his brothers. The Lord is his inheritance, as the Lord your God said to him.)
  • But I stood upon the mountain according to the former days, forty days and forty nights; and Jehovah listened unto me also at that time: Jehovah would not destroy thee.
  • “I myself stayed on the mountain, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights, and the Lord listened to me that time also. The Lord was unwilling to destroy you.
  • And Jehovah said unto me, Rise up, take thy journey before the people, that they may enter in and possess the land, which I swore unto their fathers to give unto them.
  • And the Lord said to me, ‘Arise, go on your journey at the head of the people, so that they may go in and possess the land, which I swore to their fathers to give them.’
  • A Call to Obedience

And now, Israel, what doth Jehovah thy God require of thee, but to fear Jehovah thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve Jehovah thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
  • Circumcise Your Heart

“And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,
  • to keep the commandments of Jehovah, and his statutes, which I command thee this day, for thy good?
  • and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good?
  • Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens belong to Jehovah thy God; the earth and all that is therein.
  • Behold, to the Lord your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it.
  • Only, Jehovah took pleasure in thy fathers, to love them, and he chose their seed after them, [even] you, out of all the peoples, as it is this day.
  • Yet the Lord set his heart in love on your fathers and chose their offspring after them, you above all peoples, as you are this day.
  • Circumcise then the foreskin of your heart, and stiffen your neck no more.
  • Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn.
  • For Jehovah your God is the God of gods, and the Lord of lords, the great God, the mighty and the terrible, who regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward;
  • For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe.
  • who executeth the judgment of the fatherless and the widow, and loveth the stranger, to give him food and clothing.
  • He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing.
  • And ye shall love the stranger; for ye have been strangers in the land of Egypt.
  • Love the sojourner, therefore, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.
  • Thou shalt fear Jehovah thy God; him thou shalt serve, and unto him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.
  • You shall fear the Lord your God. You shall serve him and hold fast to him, and by his name you shall swear.
  • He is thy praise, and he is thy God, who hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.
  • He is your praise. He is your God, who has done for you these great and terrifying things that your eyes have seen.
  • With seventy souls thy fathers went down into Egypt; and now Jehovah thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.
  • Your fathers went down to Egypt seventy persons, and now the Lord your God has made you as numerous as the stars of heaven.
