Clean and Unclean Animals

Ye are sons of Jehovah your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for a dead person.

1

Ви — сини Господа, вашого Бога. Не вдавайтеся до віщування, не вистригайте лисини між своїми очима за померлим.

2

For thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God, and thee hath Jehovah chosen for a people of possession unto himself, out of all the peoples that are upon the face of the earth.

2

Бо ти — святий народ для Господа, твого Бога, і Господь, твій Бог, обрав тебе, щоб ти був для Нього особливим народом з усіх народів, що на поверхні землі.

3

Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.

3

Не їжте жодної гидоти.

4

These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat;

4

Ось худоба, яку ви можете їсти: теля з корів, ягня з овець, козеня із кіз,

5

the hart, and the gazelle, and the stag, and the wild goat, and the dishon and the oryx, and the wild sheep.

оленя, сарну, буйвола, дику козу, антилопу, козулю та жирафу.

And every beast that hath cloven hoofs, and the feet quite split open into double hoofs, [and] which cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that ye shall eat.

З-поміж усіх тварин кожну тварину, яка має роздвоєне копито і має розділені на дві частини ратиці, та яка відригує жуйку, — тих можете їсти.

7

Only these ye shall not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those with hoofs cloven and split open: the camel, and the hare, and the rock-badger; for they chew the cud, but have not cloven hoofs -- they shall be unclean unto you;

Однак із тих, які відригують жуйку, та з тих, які мають роздвоєні копита і мають розділені ратиці, не їстимете оцих: верблюда, зайця і дамана — бо вони відригують жуйку, та не мають роздвоєного копита, тож вони для вас нечисті;

and the swine, for it hath cloven hoofs, yet cheweth not the cud -- it shall be unclean unto you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch.

також свині, — бо вона має роздвоєне копито й має розділені ратиці копита, та не жує жуйки, тож вона для вас нечиста. Не будете їсти їхнього м’яса й не будете торкатися до їхньої мертвечини.

9

These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales shall ye eat;

А ось те, що ви можете їсти з усього, що живе у водах: усе, у чого є плавники й луска, можете їсти.

10

but whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye shall not eat: it shall be unclean unto you.

10

А все, у чого немає плавників та луски, не їстимете, — воно для вас нечисте.

11

All clean birds shall ye eat.

Будь-якого чистого птаха можете їсти.

12

But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the sea-eagle,

А ось цих із них не будете їсти: орла, грифа, морського орла,

13

and the falcon, and the kite, and the black kite after its kind;

коршака, сокола та подібних до нього;

14

and every raven after its kind;

14

усяку ворону і подібних до неї;

15

and the female ostrich, and the male ostrich, and the sea-gull, and the hawk after its kind;

15

страуса, сову, чайку, яструба і подібних до нього;

16

the owl, and the ibis and the swan,

16

чорногуза, лебедя, ібіса,

17

and the pelican, and the carrion vulture, and the gannet,

баклана, одуда, вухату сову;

18

and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.

18

пелікана, сивку й подібних до неї; лиску та кажана.

19

And every winged crawling thing shall be unclean unto you; they shall not be eaten.

19

Усі з крилатих, що плазують, — нечисті для вас, не їжте їх.

20

All clean fowls shall ye eat.

20

А будь-якого чистого птаха можете їсти.

21

Ye shall eat of no carcase; thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is within thy gates, that he may eat it, or sell it unto a foreigner; for thou art a holy people to Jehovah thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in its mother's milk.

21

Не їжте жодної мертвечини. Нехай вона буде віддана пожильцеві, який проживатиме у твоїх містах, і нехай їсться; або ж продай її чужинцеві. Адже ти — святий народ для Господа, твого Бога. Не вари ягняти в молоці його матері.

22

Giving Tithes

Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, the produce of the field, year by year.

22

Рік у рік обов’язково відділяй десятину [1]з усього врожаю з твого насіння, з урожаю з твого поля,

23

And thou shalt eat before Jehovah thy God, in the place which he will choose to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear Jehovah thy God continually.

і споживай це перед Господом, своїм Богом, на місці, яке Господь, твій Бог, обере, щоб там прикликалося Його Ім’я. Принось десятину свого збіжжя, свого вина, своєї олії та первістків зі своєї великої та дрібної худоби, щоб ти навчився боятися Господа, свого Бога, по всі дні.

And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, because the place is too far from thee, which Jehovah thy God will choose to set his name there, when Jehovah thy God blesseth thee;

Якщо ж дорога від тебе буде далека, і ти не зможеш принести цього, тому що місце, яке Господь, твій Бог, обере, щоб там прикликалося Його Ім’я, буде далеко від тебе, — бо Господь, твій Бог, поблагословить тебе,

25

then shalt thou give it for money, and bind the money together in thy hand, and go to the place which Jehovah thy God will choose,

25

— то продай це за гроші, візьми ці гроші у свої руки й піди на місце, яке обере Господь, твій Бог.

26

and thou shalt give the money for whatever thy soul desireth, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever thy soul asketh of thee; and thou shalt eat there before Jehovah thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thy house.

Там витрать ті гроші на все, чого лиш забажає твоя душа, — на велику чи на дрібну худобу, на вино, на міцний напій чи на будь-що, чого лиш забажає твоя душа. Споживай це там перед Господом, твоїм Богом, і веселися, ти й твоя сім’я,

27

And thou shalt not forsake the Levite that is within thy gates; for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee.

27

та левіт, який проживатиме у твоїх містах, оскільки в нього немає ні частки, ні спадщини з тобою.

28

At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates;

28

Через кожні три роки приноситимеш повну десятину зі свого урожаю в тому році та складатимеш її у своїх містах;

29

and the Levite -- for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee -- and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou doest.

29

і прийде левіт, — бо в нього немає ні частки, ні спадщини з тобою, — і захожий, сирота та вдова, які житимуть у твоїх містах, і їстимуть та насичуватимуться, — щоб Господь, твій Бог, поблагословив тебе в усіх ділах, які ти будеш чинити.
