Коли бачити меш вола братового чи барана, що блукає, так не покинеш їх; на всякий раз вернеш їх братові твому.
And if thy brother be not near unto thee, and thou know him not, then thou shalt bring it unto thy house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it, and thou shalt restore it unto him.
Коли ж брат твій не близько, чи не знаєш його, так прилучиш до господарства твого, і будуть вони в тебе, покіль шукати ме брат твій; тодї вернеш йому.
And so shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his clothing; and so shalt thou do with everything that is lost of thy brother, which he loseth, and thou findest: thou mayest not hide thyself.
Так само зробиш з ослом його, і так само зробиш з одежею його, і так само зробиш з усїм, що пропаде в брата твого, а ти знайдеш. Не можна тобі задержувати.
Thou shalt not see thy brother's ass or his ox fall by the way, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt in any case [help] him to lift them up.
Як побачиш осла братового чи вола, що впаде на дорозї, так не покинеш їх; на всякий раз мусиш помогти йому підняти.
There shall not be a man's apparel on a woman, neither shall a man put on a woman's clothing; for whoever doeth so is an abomination to Jehovah thy God.
Жінка нехай не з'одягається як чоловік, а чоловікові не подоба вдягатись у жіночу одїж: се бо гидота перед Господом, Богом твоїм, коли хто се чинить.
If a bird's nest chance to be before thee in the way, in any tree, or upon the ground, with young or with eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young:
Коли трапиться тобі по дорозї пташе гнїздо, на якому дереві чи на землї, з пташенятами чи з яйцями, і мати седить на пташенятах чи на яйцях, не бери матері з маленькими.
thou shalt in any case let the dam go, and thou mayest take the young to thee, that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days.
Мусиш коньче пустити матїр, а дїток можна тобі взяти собі; щоб тобі було добре і довго жив ти на сьвітї.
When thou buildest a new house, thou shalt make a parapet for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thy house, if any one should in any wise fall from it.
Як будувати меш нову домівку, так зроби на криші ворінки,* щоб не навести крові на домівку, коли хто з неї впаде.
Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with [seed of] two sorts, lest the whole of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the produce of thy vineyard, be forfeited.
Не засївати меш виноградника твого двома насїннями; щоб плід насїння, що ти посїяв, і вроджай виноградника не були, за кару, присьвячені сьвятинї.
Thou shalt not wear a garment of mixed material, [woven] of wool and linen together.
Не носити меш одежини, зробленої з двох не однаких тканин, вовняної і льняної разом.
Tassels shalt thou make thee on the four corners of thy clothing, wherewith thou coverest thyself.
Кутаси мусиш поробити собі на чотирох кіньцях покривала твого, що накидаєш на себе.
Marriage Violations
If a man take a wife, and go in unto her and hate her,
If a man take a wife, and go in unto her and hate her,
Коли чоловік возьме жінку і, ввійшовши до неї, зненавидить її,
and charge her with things for scandalous talk, and cause an evil name against her to be spread abroad, and say, This woman have I taken, and I came in unto her, and I did not find her a virgin;
І дасть причину, щоб люде говорили ледачі речі про неї, і роспускати ме про неї недобру славу, і казати ме: Узяв я сю женьщину й приступив до неї та не знайшов у неї ознак дївування,
then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate;
Тодї батько дївицї і мати її винесуть ознаки дївування її в царину, до громадських мужів міста того,
and the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man as wife, and he hates her;
І скаже дївчин батько громадським мужам: Оддав я дочку за сього чоловіка, а він зненавидїв її.
and behold, he charges her with things for scandalous talk, saying, I found not thy daughter a virgin; and here are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
І се дав він причину, щоб люде говорили про неї ледачі речі, сказавши: Не знайшов я в твоєї дочки ознак дївування. Так ось вам ознаки дївування моєї дочки. І вони розгорнуть плахту перед громадськими мужами міста.
And the elders of that city shall take the man and chastise him;
Тодї громадські мужі міста того візьмуть чоловіка та й скарають його;
and they shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath caused an evil name to be spread abroad against a virgin in Israel. And she shall remain his wife: he may not put her away all his days.
І наложять на його сто секлїв срібла пенї, та й оддадуть їх батькові дївчини за те, що той пустив недобру славу про дїву Ізраїльську. І мусить вона бути жінкою йому; неможна йому одіслати її поки жити буде.
But if this thing is true, [and] virginity hath not been found with the damsel;
А коли буде правда, і не знайдуть в дївицї ознак дївування,
then they shall bring out the damsel unto the entrance of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought infamy in Israel, committing fornication in her father's house; and thou shalt put evil away from thy midst.
Тодї виведуть дївицю до входу в батькову домівку, і люде міста її побють її каміннєм, щоб умерла; бо вона, блудуючи в батьківському дому, зробила соромне дїло в Ізраїлї. Сим робом виводити меш зло зміж людей твоїх.
If a man be found lying with a man's wife, they shall both of them die, the man that lay with the woman, and the woman; and thou shalt put away evil from Israel.
Коли спіймає хто чоловіка, що лежить із мужньою жоною, так обом смерть, чоловікові, що лежав із жінкою, й жіньцї. Сим робом виводити меш зло зміж людей твоїх.
If a damsel, a virgin, be betrothed to some one, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her,
Коли дївуюча дївка буде засватаною, та стріне її чоловік в містї та й лежати ме з нею,
then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, [being] in the city, and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife; and thou shalt put evil away from thy midst.
Так виведете обох до воріт міста сього, та й побєте їх каміннєм, так що помруть: дївку за те, що не кричала в містї, чоловіка за те, що він упокорив жінку свого ближнього. Сим робом виводити меш зло зміж людей твоїх.
But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her, then the man only that lay with her shall die;
Коли ж у полї зустріне чоловік заручену дївку та вхопить її і ляже з нею, то такий чоловік, що лежав з нею, один умре.
and unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing: there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death; for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and murdereth him, so is this matter;
А з дївкою нїчого не чинити меш: нема на дївцї смертного гріха; се бо така сама справа, як коли чоловік стане проти свого ближнього та й вбє його.
for he found her in the field, the betrothed damsel cried, and there was no one to save her.
Бо стрів її в полї; заручена дївка кричала, та нїкому було рятувати її.
If a man find a damsel, a virgin, who is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found,
Коли чоловік зустріне дївуючу дївку незаручену, та вхопить її і зляжеться з нею, і спіймають їх,
then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty [shekels] of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he hath humbled her; he may not put her away all his days.
Тодї чоловік, що злігся з нею, оддасть батькові дївки пятьдесять секлїв срібла, і вона мусить бути йому жінкою, за те, що він упокорив її; не можна йому відослати її, поки він жити ме:
