Darby Bible Translation

New King James Version

  • Paul and Apollos God's Fellow Workers

    And *I*, brethren, have not been able to speak to you as to spiritual, but as to fleshly; as to babes in Christ.
  • Sectarianism Is Carnal

    And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ.
  • I have given you milk to drink, not meat, for ye have not yet been able, nor indeed are ye yet able;
  • I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able;
  • for ye are yet carnal. For whereas [there are] among you emulation and strife, are ye not carnal, and walk according to man?
  • for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and [a]behaving like mere men?
  • For when one says, *I* am of Paul, and another, *I* of Apollos, are ye not men?
  • For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?
  • Who then is Apollos, and who Paul? Ministering servants, through whom ye have believed, and as the Lord has given to each.
  • Watering, Working, Warning

    Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one?
  • *I* have planted; Apollos watered; but God has given the increase.
  • I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.
  • So that neither the planter is anything, nor the waterer; but God the giver of the increase.
  • So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.
  • But the planter and the waterer are one; but each shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
  • Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
  • For we are God's fellow-workmen; ye are God's husbandry, God's building.
  • For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.
  • Christ the Only Foundation

    According to the grace of God which has been given to me, as a wise architect, I have laid the foundation, but another builds upon it. But let each see how he builds upon it.
  • According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it.
  • For other foundation can no man lay besides that which [is] laid, which is Jesus Christ.
  • For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
  • Now if any one build upon [this] foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, grass, straw,
  • Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,
  • the work of each shall be made manifest; for the day shall declare [it], because it is revealed in fire; and the fire shall try the work of each what it is.
  • each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.
  • If the work of any one which he has built upon [the foundation] shall abide, he shall receive a reward.
  • If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.
  • If the work of any one shall be consumed, he shall suffer loss, but *he* shall be saved, but so as through [the] fire.
  • If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
  • You are God's Temple

    Do ye not know that ye are [the] temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwells in you?
  • Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
  • If any one corrupt the temple of God, *him* shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, and such are *ye*.
  • If anyone [b]defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.
  • Let no one deceive himself: if any one thinks himself to be wise among you in this world, let him become foolish, that he may be wise.
  • Avoid Worldly Wisdom

    Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.
  • Worldly Wisdom is Foolishness to God

    For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God; for it is written, He who takes the wise in their craftiness.
  • For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;
  • And again, [The] Lord knows the reasonings of the wise that they are vain.
  • and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”
  • So that let no one boast in men; for all things are yours.
  • Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours:
  • Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or [the] world, or life, or death, or things present, or things coming, all are yours;
  • whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come — all are yours.
  • and *ye* [are] Christ's, and Christ [is] God's.
  • And you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.
