Оце втретє до вас я йду. „Кожна справа хай станеться ви́роком двох чи трьох свідків“.
I have declared beforehand, and I say beforehand as present the second time, and now absent, to those that have sinned before, and to all the rest, that if I come again I will not spare.
Попере́джував я й попере́джу́ю, — як у вас був удру́ге, так тепер неприсутній, — отих, що згрішили перед тим, і всіх інших, що коли прийду знову, то я не помилую,
Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, (who is not weak towards you, but is powerful among you,
через те, що шукаєте доказу, що в мені промовляє Христос, Який не безсилий до вас, але сильний у вас.
for if indeed he has been crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God's power; for indeed *we* are weak in him, but we shall live with him by God's power towards you,)
Бо хоч Він був і розп'я́тий в не́мочі, та живий із сили Божої. Так і ми, — хоча не́мічні в Нім, та з Ним бу́демо жити з Божої сили у вас.
examine your own selves if ye be in the faith; prove your own selves: do ye not recognise yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you, unless indeed ye be reprobates?
Випробо́вуйте самих себе, чи ви в вірі, пізнавайте самих себе. Хіба ви не знаєте самих себе, що Ісус Христос у вас? Хіба тільки, що ви не такі, якими мали б бути.
Now I hope that ye will know that *we* are not reprobates.
Але маю надію, що пізнаєте ви, що ми такі, якими мали б бути.
But we pray to God that ye may do nothing evil; not that *we* may appear approved, but that *ye* may do what is right, and *we* be as reprobates.
І ми молимо Бога, щоб ви не чинили нія́кого ли́ха, не для то́го, щоб виявились ми досвідчені, а щоб учинили ви добре, а ми бу́дем немов негі́дні.
For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

For we rejoice when *we* may be weak and *ye* may be powerful. But this also we pray for, your perfecting.
Ми тішимося, коли ми слабі, а ви сильні. Про це й мо́лимось — щоб були досконалими ви!
On this account I write these things being absent, that being present I may not use severity according to the authority which the Lord has given me for building up, and not for overthrowing.
Ось тому́ то, відсутній, пишу́ це, щоб прийшовши, не мав я вчинити суворо за вла́дою, якої Госпо́дь мені дав на будува́ння, а не на руйнува́ння.
