Ministers of a New Covenant

Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or do we need, as some, commendatory letters to you, or [commendatory] from you?

1

Чи нам же починати знов самих себе поручати? або треба нам, як иншим, поручальних листів до вас, чи од вас поручальних (листів?).

*Ye* are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read of all men,

Ви наше посланнє, написане в серцях наших, котре знають і читають усї люде.

3

being manifested to be Christ's epistle ministered by us, written, not with ink, but [the] Spirit of [the] living God; not on stone tables, but on fleshy tables of [the] heart.

(А й надто) ви явлені, що ви посланнє Христове через служеннє наше, написане не чернилом, а Духом Бога живого, не на камяних скрижалях, а на тїлесних скрижалях серця.

And such confidence have we through the Christ towards God:

Надїю ж таку маємо через Христа до Бога,

5

not that we are competent of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our competency [is] of God;

5

бо ми не в силї самі від себе що думати, яко із себе; а сила наша від Бога,

6

who has also made us competent, [as] ministers of [the] new covenant; not of letter, but of spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit quickens.

котрий і дав нам силу бути слугами нового завіту, не букви, а духа; буква бо вбиває, а дух животворить.

The Glory of the New Covenant

(But if the ministry of death, in letters, graven in stones, began with glory, so that the children of Israel could not fix their eyes on the face of Moses, on account of the glory of his face, [a glory] which is annulled;

Коли ж служеннє смерти, письмом вирізане на каміннях, було в славі, так що сини Ізраїлеві не могли дивитись на лице Мойсейове задля слави лиця його минущої,

how shall not rather the ministry of the Spirit subsist in glory?

як же не більше служеннє духа буде в славі?

For if the ministry of condemnation [be] glory, much rather the ministry of righteousness abounds in glory.

Бо коли служеннє осуду — слава, то геть більше служеннє правдї багатше славою.

10

For also that [which was] glorified is not glorified in this respect, on account of the surpassing glory.

10

Бо й не прославилось прославлене в тій мірі, задля переважуючої слави.

11

For if that annulled [was introduced] with glory, much rather that which abides [subsists] in glory.

Коли бо те, що минає, в славі, то багато більше в славі те, що пробуває.

Having therefore such hope, we use much boldness:

Маючи оце таке впованнє, уживаємо велику волю,

13

and not according as Moses put a veil on his own face, so that the children of Israel should not fix their eyes on the end of that annulled.

а не яко ж Мойсей, що клав покривало на лице своє, щоб сини Ізраїлеві не дивились на конець минущого.

14

But their thoughts have been darkened, for unto this day the same veil remains in reading the old covenant, unremoved, which in Christ is annulled.

Та осьліпились думки їх: бо аж до сього дня те ж покривало в читанню старого завіту зостаєть ся невідкрите, котре в Христї зникає.

15

But unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil lies upon their heart.

15

Нї, аж до сього дня, коли читаєть ся Мойсея, покривало на серцї їх лежить.

16

But when it shall turn to [the] Lord, the veil is taken away.)

16

Як же обернуть ся до Господа, здіймаєть ся покривало.

17

Now the Lord is the Spirit, but where the Spirit of [the] Lord [is, there is] liberty.

17

Господь же Дух; де ж Господень Дух, там воля.

18

But *we* all, looking on the glory of the Lord, with unveiled face, are transformed according to the same image from glory to glory, even as by [the] Lord [the] Spirit.

18

Ми ж усї відкритим лицем, поглядаючи як у дзеркало, на славу Господню, преобразуємось у той же образ від слави в славу, яко ж від Господнього Духа.
