Ministers of a New Covenant

Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or do we need, as some, commendatory letters to you, or [commendatory] from you?

1

Чи нам знов зачинати дору́чувати самих себе́? Чи ми потребуємо, як дехто, листів доруча́льних до вас чи від вас?

*Ye* are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read of all men,

Ви наш лист, написаний у наших серцях, якого всі люди знають і читають!

being manifested to be Christ's epistle ministered by us, written, not with ink, but [the] Spirit of [the] living God; not on stone tables, but on fleshy tables of [the] heart.

Виявляєте ви, що ви — лист Христів, нами вислужений, що написаний не чорнилом, але Духом Бога Живого, не на табли́цях камінних, але на тіле́сних табли́цях серця.

And such confidence have we through the Christ towards God:

4

Таку ж певність до Бога ми маємо через Христа,

not that we are competent of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our competency [is] of God;

5

не тому́, що ми здібні поми́слити щось із се́бе, як від себе, але наша здібність від Бога.

who has also made us competent, [as] ministers of [the] new covenant; not of letter, but of spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit quickens.

І Він нас зробив бути здатними служи́телями Ново́го Заповіту, не букви, а Духа, — бо буква вбиває, а Дух оживля́є.

The Glory of the New Covenant

(But if the ministry of death, in letters, graven in stones, began with glory, so that the children of Israel could not fix their eyes on the face of Moses, on account of the glory of his face, [a glory] which is annulled;

Коли ж служі́ння смерті, вирізане на каменях буквами, було таке славне, що Ізра́їлеві сини не могли дивитись на обличчя Мойсея, через славу мину́щу обличчя його,

8

how shall not rather the ministry of the Spirit subsist in glory?

8

скільки ж більш буде в славі те служі́ння Духа!

9

For if the ministry of condemnation [be] glory, much rather the ministry of righteousness abounds in glory.

9

Бо як служі́ння о́суду — слава, то служіння праведности тим більше багате на славу!

10

For also that [which was] glorified is not glorified in this respect, on account of the surpassing glory.

10

Не просла́вилося бо прославлене, у цій частині, ради слави, що вона переважує,

11

For if that annulled [was introduced] with glory, much rather that which abides [subsists] in glory.

бо коли славне те, що минає, то багато більш у славі те, що триває!

12

Having therefore such hope, we use much boldness:

Тож, мавши надію таку, ми вживаємо великої сміли́вости,

13

and not according as Moses put a veil on his own face, so that the children of Israel should not fix their eyes on the end of that annulled.

13

а не як Мойсей, що покрива́ло клав на обличчя своє, щоб Ізраїлеві сини не дивилися на кінець того, що минає.

14

But their thoughts have been darkened, for unto this day the same veil remains in reading the old covenant, unremoved, which in Christ is annulled.

Але засліпилися їхні думки́, бо те саме покрива́ло аж до сьогодні лишилось незняте в чита́нні Старо́го Заповіту, бо зникає воно Христо́м.

15

But unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil lies upon their heart.

15

Але аж до сьогодні, як читають Мойсея, на їхньому серці лежить покрива́ло,

16

But when it shall turn to [the] Lord, the veil is taken away.)

16

„коли ж вони наве́рнуться до Господа, тоді покрива́ло здіймається“.

17

Now the Lord is the Spirit, but where the Spirit of [the] Lord [is, there is] liberty.

17

Госпо́дь же — то Дух, а де Дух Господній, — там воля.

18

But *we* all, looking on the glory of the Lord, with unveiled face, are transformed according to the same image from glory to glory, even as by [the] Lord [the] Spirit.

18

Ми ж відкритим обличчям, як у дзеркало, дивимося всі на славу Господню, і зміняємося в той же образ від слави на славу, як від Господа Духа.
