Darby Bible Translation

English Standard Version

  • The Light of the Gospel

    Therefore, having this ministry, as we have had mercy shewn us, we faint not.
  • The Light of the Gospel

    Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God,a we do not lose heart.
  • But we have rejected the hidden things of shame, not walking in deceit, nor falsifying the word of God, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every conscience of men before God.
  • But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practiceb cunning or to tamper with God’s word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.
  • But if also our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in those that are lost;
  • And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.
  • in whom the god of this world has blinded the thoughts of the unbelieving, so that the radiancy of the glad tidings of the glory of the Christ, who is [the] image of God, should not shine forth [for them].
  • In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
  • For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus Lord, and ourselves your bondmen for Jesus' sake.
  • For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servantsc for Jesus’ sake.
  • Because [it is] the God who spoke that out of darkness light should shine who has shone in our hearts for the shining forth of the knowledge of the glory of God in [the] face of [Jesus] Christ.
  • For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
  • Treasures in Jars of Clay

    But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the surpassingness of the power may be of God, and not from us:
  • Treasure in Jars of Clay

    But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
  • every way afflicted, but not straitened; seeing no apparent issue, but our way not entirely shut up;
  • We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair;
  • persecuted, but not abandoned; cast down, but not destroyed;
  • persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
  • always bearing about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body;
  • always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.
  • for we who live are always delivered unto death on account of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh;
  • For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
  • so that death works in us, but life in you.
  • So death is at work in us, but life in you.
  • And having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, I have believed, therefore have I spoken; *we* also believe, therefore also we speak;
  • Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak,
  • knowing that he who has raised the Lord Jesus shall raise us also with Jesus, and shall present [us] with you.
  • knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence.
  • For all things [are] for your sakes, that the grace abounding through the many may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.
  • For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.
  • Wherefore we faint not; but if indeed our outward man is consumed, yet the inward is renewed day by day.
  • So we do not lose heart. Though our outer selfd is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.
  • For our momentary [and] light affliction works for us in surpassing measure an eternal weight of glory;
  • For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,
  • while we look not at the things that are seen, but at the things that are not seen; for the things that are seen [are] for a time, but those that are not seen eternal.
  • as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
