Wherefore he says, Wake up, [thou] that sleepest, and arise up from among the dead, and the Christ shall shine upon thee.

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

Therefore He says:
“Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light.” -

This is why it is said:
“Wake up, sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.” -

for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,
“Awake, O sleeper,
and arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.” -

For this reason it says,
“Awake, sleeper,
And arise from the dead,
And Christ will shine on you.” -
for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said,
“Awake, O sleeper,
rise up from the dead,
and Christ will give you light.” -

Того ж то глаголе: Устань, сонний, і воскресни з мертвих, то й осьвітить тебе Христос. -
Так, все проясняється у світлі! Ось чому ми кажемо:
«Встань, той, хто спить! Воскресни з мертвих, і Христос освітить тебе». -
Через це то й говорить: „Сплячий, вставай, і воскре́сни із мертвих, — і Христос осві́тлить тебе!“

Свет делает все видимым, поэтому и говорится:
«Проснись, спящий!
Воскресни из мертвых —
и Христос осветит тебя».15 -
оскільки все, що виявляється, стає світлом. Через це й сказано: Встань, ти, котрий спиш, і воскресни з мертвих, — і Христос освітить тебе!
