Darby Bible Translation

English Standard Version

  • Stand Firm in the Lord

    So that, my brethren, beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, thus stand fast in [the] Lord, beloved.
  • Therefore, my brothers,a whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved.
  • I exhort Euodia, and exhort Syntyche, to be of the same mind in [the] Lord;
  • Exhortation, Encouragement, and Prayer

    I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to agree in the Lord.
  • yea, I ask thee also, true yokefellow, assist them, who have contended along with me in the glad tidings, with Clement also, and my other fellow-labourers, whose names [are] in [the] book of life.
  • Yes, I ask you also, true companion,b help these women, who have laboredc side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
  • Rejoice in [the] Lord always: again I will say, Rejoice.
  • Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.
  • Let your gentleness be known of all men. The Lord [is] near.
  • Let your reasonablenessd be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand;
  • Be careful about nothing; but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
  • do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
  • and the peace of God, which surpasses every understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts by Christ Jesus.
  • And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
  • Think on These Things

    For the rest, brethren, whatsoever things [are] true, whatsoever things [are] noble, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] amiable, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue and if any praise, think on these things.
  • Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
  • What ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, these things do; and the God of peace shall be with you.
  • What you have learnede and received and heard and seen in me — practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
  • Philippian Generosity

    But I rejoiced in [the] Lord greatly, that now however at length ye have revived your thinking of me, though surely ye did also think [of me], but lacked opportunity.
  • God’s Provision

    I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity.
  • Not that I speak as regards privation, for as to me *I* have learnt in those circumstances in which I am, to be satisfied in myself.
  • Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.
  • I know both how to be abased and I know how to abound. In everything and in all things I am initiated both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer privation.
  • I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.
  • I have strength for all things in him that gives me power.
  • I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
  • But ye have done well in taking part in my affliction.
  • Yet it was kind of you to sharef my trouble.
  • And know also *ye*, O Philippians, that in [the] beginning of the gospel, when I came out of Macedonia, no assembly communicated [anything] to me in [the] way of giving and receiving save *ye* alone;
  • And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only.
  • for also in Thessalonica once and even twice ye sent to me for my need.
  • Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again.
  • Not that I seek gift, but I seek fruit abounding to your account.
  • Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit.g
  • But I have all things in full supply and abound; I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things [sent] from you, an odour of sweet savour, an acceptable sacrifice, agreeable to God.
  • I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.
  • But my God shall abundantly supply all your need according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
  • And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
  • But to our God and Father [be] glory to the ages of ages. Amen.
  • To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
  • Final Greetings

    Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren who [are] with me salute you.
  • Final Greetings

    Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me greet you.
  • All the saints salute you, and specially those of the household of Caesar.
  • All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar’s household.
  • The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ [be] with your spirit. Amen.
  • The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
