Darby Bible Translation

New Living Translation

  • Stand Firm in the Lord

    So that, my brethren, beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, thus stand fast in [the] Lord, beloved.
  • Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters,a stay true to the Lord. I love you and long to see you, dear friends, for you are my joy and the crown I receive for my work.
  • I exhort Euodia, and exhort Syntyche, to be of the same mind in [the] Lord;

  • Words of Encouragement

    Now I appeal to Euodia and Syntyche. Please, because you belong to the Lord, settle your disagreement.
  • yea, I ask thee also, true yokefellow, assist them, who have contended along with me in the glad tidings, with Clement also, and my other fellow-labourers, whose names [are] in [the] book of life.
  • And I ask you, my true partner,b to help these two women, for they worked hard with me in telling others the Good News. They worked along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are written in the Book of Life.
  • Rejoice in [the] Lord always: again I will say, Rejoice.
  • Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again — rejoice!
  • Let your gentleness be known of all men. The Lord [is] near.
  • Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.c
  • Be careful about nothing; but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
  • Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
  • and the peace of God, which surpasses every understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts by Christ Jesus.
  • Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
  • Think on These Things

    For the rest, brethren, whatsoever things [are] true, whatsoever things [are] noble, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] amiable, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue and if any praise, think on these things.
  • And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
  • What ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, these things do; and the God of peace shall be with you.
  • Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me — everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
  • Philippian Generosity

    But I rejoiced in [the] Lord greatly, that now however at length ye have revived your thinking of me, though surely ye did also think [of me], but lacked opportunity.

  • Paul’s Thanks for Their Gifts

    How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me, but you didn’t have the chance to help me.
  • Not that I speak as regards privation, for as to me *I* have learnt in those circumstances in which I am, to be satisfied in myself.
  • Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.
  • I know both how to be abased and I know how to abound. In everything and in all things I am initiated both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer privation.
  • I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.
  • I have strength for all things in him that gives me power.
  • For I can do everything through Christ,d who gives me strength.
  • But ye have done well in taking part in my affliction.
  • Even so, you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty.
  • And know also *ye*, O Philippians, that in [the] beginning of the gospel, when I came out of Macedonia, no assembly communicated [anything] to me in [the] way of giving and receiving save *ye* alone;
  • As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I first brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia. No other church did this.
  • for also in Thessalonica once and even twice ye sent to me for my need.
  • Even when I was in Thessalonica you sent help more than once.
  • Not that I seek gift, but I seek fruit abounding to your account.
  • I don’t say this because I want a gift from you. Rather, I want you to receive a reward for your kindness.
  • But I have all things in full supply and abound; I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things [sent] from you, an odour of sweet savour, an acceptable sacrifice, agreeable to God.
  • At the moment I have all I need — and more! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God.
  • But my God shall abundantly supply all your need according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
  • And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
  • But to our God and Father [be] glory to the ages of ages. Amen.
  • Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen.
  • Final Greetings

    Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren who [are] with me salute you.

  • Paul’s Final Greetings

    Give my greetings to each of God’s holy people — all who belong to Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me send you their greetings.
  • All the saints salute you, and specially those of the household of Caesar.
  • And all the rest of God’s people send you greetings, too, especially those in Caesar’s household.
  • The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ [be] with your spirit. Amen.
  • May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.e
