Five Kings War against Gibeon

And it came to pass when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had taken Ai and had utterly destroyed it, that he had done to Ai and its king as he had done to Jericho and its king, and that the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them,

Когда Адони-Цедек, царь Иерусалима, услышал о том, что Иисус захватил Гай и полностью уничтожил21 его, поступив с Гаем и его царем так же, как с Иерихоном и его царем, и о том, что жители Гаваона заключили с Израилем мир и живут среди них,

that they feared greatly; for Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty.

And Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Hoham king of Hebron, and to Piream king of Jarmuth, and to Japhia king of Lachish, and to Debir king of Eglon, saying,

Come up to me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon; for it has made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.

— Придите и помогите мне напасть на Гаваон, — говорил он, — потому что он заключил мир с Иисусом и израильтянами.

And the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, [and] the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their armies, and they encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.

Пять аморрейских царей — цари Иерусалима, Хеврона, Ярмута, Лахиша и Эглона — объединили силы. Они вышли со всеми своими воинами, расположились лагерем напротив Гаваона и напали на него.

And the men of Gibeon sent to Joshua, to the camp at Gilgal, saying, Withdraw not thy hand from thy servants: come up to us quickly, and save us and help us; for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the hill-country are gathered against us.

Тогда гаваонитяне послали сказать Иисусу в гилгалский лагерь:
— Не оставь своих слуг! Скорее приходи к нам и спаси нас! Помоги нам, потому что все аморрейские цари с нагорий объединили свои силы против нас.

So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him, even all the valiant men.

Иисус выступил из Гилгала со всем своим войском, со всеми лучшими воинами.

And Jehovah said to Joshua, Fear them not; for into thy hand have I given them: not a man of them shall stand before thee.

Господь сказал Иисусу:
— Не бойся их. Я отдал их в твои руки. Никто из них не сможет противостоять тебе.

9

And Joshua came upon them suddenly; he went up from Gilgal all night.

9

Иисус шел из Гилгала всю ночь и захватил своих врагов врасплох.

10

And Jehovah discomfited them before Israel, and smote them [with] a great slaughter at Gibeon; and he chased them on the way of the ascent of Beth-horon, and smote them up to Azekah and Makkedah.

Господь привел их в смятение перед Израилем, который разбил их, одержав при Гаваоне великую победу. Израильтяне гнались за ними по дороге, поднимающейся в Бет-Хорон, и разили их до Азеки и Македы.

And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, -- they were at the descent of Beth-horon, -- that Jehovah cast down great stones from heaven upon them up to Azekah, and they died. They were more who died with the hailstones than they whom the children of Israel had slain with the sword.

The Sun Stands Still

Then spoke Joshua to Jehovah in the day when Jehovah gave up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand still upon Gibeon; And thou, moon, in the valley of Ajalon!

Иисус воззвал к Господу в тот день, когда Господь отдал аморреев израильтянам, и сказал перед всем Израилем:

— Стой, солнце, над Гаваоном,
и луна над долиною Айялон.

And the sun stood still, and the moon remained where it was, until the nation had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? And the sun remained standing in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a full day.

И солнце остановилось, и стояла луна,
пока народ не отомстил
своим врагам,

как написано в «Книге Праведного».22
Солнце стояло посреди неба и медлило садиться почти сутки.

14

And there was no day like that before it or after it, that Jehovah hearkened to the voice of a man; for Jehovah fought for Israel.

Никогда не было такого дня ни прежде, ни потом — дня, когда Господь послушался человека. Ведь Господь сражался за Израиль!

15

And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp, to Gilgal.

15

После этого Иисус вернулся со всем Израилем в гилгалский лагерь.

Victory at Makkedah

And these five kings fled, and hid themselves in the cave at Makkedah.

16

А пять царей бежали и укрылись в пещере в Македе.

17

And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings have been found, hid in the cave at Makkedah.

17

Когда Иисусу доложили, что пятерых царей обнаружили прячущимися в пещере в Македе,

18

And Joshua said, Roll great stones before the mouth of the cave, and set men before it to keep them.

18

он сказал:
— Привалите ко входу пещеры большие камни и приставьте к ней стражу.

19

And ye, stay not, pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities; for Jehovah your God has given them into your hand.

19

Но не останавливайтесь! Преследуйте своих врагов, атакуйте их сзади и не дайте им добраться до своих городов, потому что Господь, ваш Бог, отдал их в ваши руки.

20

And it came to pass when Joshua and the children of Israel had ended smiting them with a very great slaughter, until they were consumed, that the remnant which remained of them entered into fortified cities;

Иисус и израильтяне истребили их полностью, не оставив в живых почти никого, и лишь немногие уцелевшие добрались до своих укрепленных городов.

21

and all the people returned to the camp to Joshua, at Makkedah, in peace; none moved his tongue against the children of Israel.

После этого все войско благополучно вернулось к Иисусу в лагерь в Македе, и никто не осмеливался сказать что-нибудь против израильтян.

22

And Joshua said, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring forth to me those five kings out of the cave.

22

Иисус сказал:
— Откройте пещеру и выведите ко мне тех пятерых царей.

23

And they did so, and brought forth to him those five kings out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon.

23

И к нему вывели из пещеры пятерых царей — царей Иерусалима, Хеврона, Ярмута, Лахиша и Эглона.

24

And it came to pass when they had brought forth those kings to Joshua, that Joshua called to all the men of Israel, and said to the captains of the men of war who went with him, Come forward, put your feet on the necks of these kings. And they came forward and put their feet on their necks.

24

Когда к Иисусу вывели этих пятерых царей, он призвал всех израильтян и сказал военачальникам, которые ходили с ним:
— Подойдите и поставьте ваши ноги на шеи этих царей.
Они подошли и поставили ноги на их шеи.

25

And Joshua said to them, Fear not, neither be dismayed; be strong and courageous, for thus will Jehovah do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.

25

Иисус сказал им:
— Не бойтесь и не теряйте присутствия духа! Будьте тверды и мужественны! Господь поступит так со всеми врагами, с которыми вы будете воевать.

26

And afterwards Joshua smote them, and put them to death, and hanged them on five trees; and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening.

Затем Иисус поразил и умертвил царей и повесил их на пяти деревьях, и они висели на деревьях до вечера.

27

And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave where they had been hid, and laid great stones before the cave's mouth, [which remain] to this very day.

На закате Иисус приказал, и их сняли с деревьев и бросили в пещеру, где они укрывались. Ко входу в пещеру привалили большие камни, которые там и по сегодняшний день.

28

And Joshua took Makkedah on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, him and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed; he let none remain; and he did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.

В тот день Иисус взял Македу. Он предал город и его царя мечу и полностью истребил всех жителей. Он никого не оставил в живых. Он сделал с царем Македы то же, что и с царем Иерихона.

29

Joshua Conquers Southern Palestine

And Joshua passed, and all Israel with him, from Makkedah to Libnah, and fought against Libnah.

29

Затем Иисус и с ним весь Израиль пошел из Македы к Ливне и напал на нее.

30

And Jehovah gave it also and the king thereof into the hand of Israel; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain in it: and he did to the king thereof as he had done to the king of Jericho.

Господь отдал в руки Израиля и этот город вместе с его царем. Город и всех, кто в нем был, Иисус предал мечу. Он никого не оставил там в живых. Он поступил с его царем так же, как и с царем Иерихона.

31

And Joshua passed, and all Israel with him, from Libnah to Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it.

31

Затем Иисус и с ним весь Израиль пошел из Ливны к Лахишу. Он поставил напротив него лагерь и напал на него.

32

And Jehovah gave Lachish into the hand of Israel; and they took it on the second day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein, according to all that he had done to Libnah.

Господь отдал Лахиш Израилю, и Иисус взял его на второй день. Город и всех в нем он предал мечу, как он сделал в Ливне.

33

Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.

33

Тем временем Горам, царь Гезера, пришел Лахишу на помощь, но Иисус разбил его и его войско, никого не оставив в живых.

And Joshua, and all Israel with him, passed from Lachish to Eglon; and they encamped against it, and fought against it.

34

And they took it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword; and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed on that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.

35

Они взяли его в тот же день и предали мечу. Он полностью истребил всех, кто в нем был, как он сделал и с Лахишем.

36

And Joshua went up, and all Israel with him, from Eglon to Hebron; and they fought against it.

36

Затем Иисус и с ним весь Израиль пошел из Эглона в Хеврон и напал на него.

37

And they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein: he let none remain, according to all that he had done to Eglon; and he utterly destroyed it, and all the souls that were therein.

Они взяли город и предали его мечу, вместе с его царем, его поселениями и всеми, кто в нем был. Они никого не оставили в живых. Как и в Эглоне, он полностью уничтожил и город, и всех, кто в нем был.

38

And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir; and fought against it.

38

Затем Иисус и с ним весь Израиль повернул назад к Давиру и напал на него.

39

And he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: as he had done to Hebron, and as he had done to Libnah, and to the king thereof, so he did to Debir and to the king thereof.

39

Они взяли город, его царя и поселения и предали их мечу. Они полностью истребили всех, кто в нем был, никого не оставив в живых. Он поступил с Давиром так же, как и с Ливной и ее царем и с Хевроном.

40

And Joshua smote the whole country, the mountain, and the south, and the lowland, and the hill-slopes, and all their kings: he let none remain, but he utterly destroyed all that breathed, as Jehovah the God of Israel had commanded.

40

Так Иисус покорил всю ту область — нагорья и Негев, западные предгорья и горные склоны, и всех ее царей. Он никого не оставил в живых. Он полностью истребил все дышащее, как повелел Господь, Бог Израиля.

41

And Joshua smote them from Kadesh-barnea even to Gazah, and all the country of Goshen, even to Gibeon;

41

Иисус покорил их от Кадеш-Барнеа до Газы и всю область Гошен23 до Гаваона.

42

and all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time; for Jehovah the God of Israel fought for Israel.

42

Всех этих царей и их земли Иисус взял за один поход, потому что Господь, Бог Израиля, сражался за Израиль.

43

And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp, to Gilgal.

43

Затем Иисус и весь Израиль с ним вернулись в гилгалский лагерь.
