The Crossing of the Jordan

And Joshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to the Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.

І встав Ісус рано вранці, і вони рушили з Ситтіму, та й прийшли аж до Йорда́ну він та всі Ізраїлеві сини́. І переночува́ли вони там перше, ніж перейшли.

2

And it came to pass at the end of three days, that the officers went through the camp;

І сталося по трьох днях, і перейшли́ урядники між табо́ром,

3

and they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of Jehovah your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then remove from your place, and go after it;

3

і наказали наро́дові, говорячи: „Коли ви побачите ковче́га заповіту Господа, Бога вашого, та священиків-Левитів, що несуть його, то ви рушите з вашого місця, і пі́дете за ним.

4

yet there shall be a distance between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Ye shall not come near it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go; for ye have not passed this way heretofore.

Тільки ві́ддаль між вами та між ним буде мірою коло двох тисяч ліктів. Не наближа́йтеся до нього, щоб ви знали ту доро́гу, якою пі́дете, бо ви не ходили цією дорогою ані вчора, ані позавчора“.

And Joshua said to the people, Hallow yourselves; for to-morrow Jehovah will do wonders in your midst.

І сказав Ісус до наро́ду: „Освятіться, бо Господь узавтра чинитиме чу́да поміж вами“.

And Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and go over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.

І сказав Ісус до священиків, говорячи: „Понесіть ковчега заповіту, і перейдіть Йордан перед народом“. І поне́сли вони ковчега заповіту, і пішли перед народом.

7

And Jehovah said to Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee.

І сказав Господь до Ісуса: „Цього дня розпічну́ Я звели́чувати тебе на оча́х усього Ізраїля, який буде бачити, що я́к був Я з Мойсеєм, так буду з тобою.

8

And thou shalt command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye come to the edge of the waters of the Jordan, stand still in the Jordan.

А ти накажеш священикам, що носять ковчега заповіту, говорячи: Коли ви вві́йдете до кра́ю води Йорда́ну, станете в Йорда́ні“.

9

And Joshua said to the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the words of Jehovah your God.

9

І сказав Ісус до Ізра́їлевих синів: „Підійдіть сюди, і послухайте слів Господа, Бога вашого“.

10

And Joshua said, Hereby shall ye know that the living God is in your midst, and [that] he will without fail dispossess from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.

І Ісус сказав: „По цьому пізнаєте, що Бог Живий поміж вами, і конче Він вижене перед вами ханаане́янина, і хітте́янина, і хівве́янина, і періззе́янина, і ґірґаше́янина, і євусе́янина.

11

Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is going over before you into the Jordan.

11

Оце ковчег заповіту Владики всієї землі перехо́дить перед вами через Йорда́н.

12

And now take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, one man for each tribe.

12

А тепер візьміть собі дванадцять мужі́в з Ізраїлевих племе́н, по одно́му му́жеві на пле́м'я.

13

And it shall come to pass, when the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of Jehovah, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan, the waters flowing down from above, shall be cut off, and shall stand up in a heap.

13

І станеться, коли спи́няться сто́пи ніг священиків, що носять ковчега Господа, Владики всієї землі, у воді Йорда́ну, буде спи́нена вода, що тече зве́рху, і стане одним валом“.

14

And it came to pass when the people removed from their tents, to pass over the Jordan, that the priests bearing the ark of the covenant were before the people;

І сталося, коли рушив наро́д зо своїх наметів, щоб перейти Йорда́н, а священики, що не́сли ковчега заповіту перед народом,

15

and when they that bore the ark were come to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (and the Jordan is full over all its banks throughout the days of harvest),

і коли носії ковчегу прийшли до Йорда́ну, а ноги священиків, що несли ковчега, зану́рилися в во́ду скра́ю, а Йорда́н був повний по всі береги́ свої всі дні жнив,

16

the waters which flowed down from above stood [and] rose up in a heap, very far, by Adam, the city that is beside Zaretan; and those that flowed down towards the sea of the plain, the salt sea, were completely cut off. And the people went over opposite to Jericho.

то спини́лась вода, що зве́рху текла́, стала одним ва́лом, дуже дале́ко від міста Ада́ма, що збоку Цортану, а та, що текла до сте́пу, до Солоного моря, стекла́ зо́всім, і була́ відділена, а народ перейшов навпроти Єрихо́ну.

17

And the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of Jehovah stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan. And all Israel went over on dry ground, until all the nation had completely gone over the Jordan.

А священики, що не́сли ковчега заповіту Господнього, стали міцно на сухому посере́дині Йорда́ну, і ввесь Ізраїль перехо́див по сухому, аж поки не скінчи́в переходити Йорда́н увесь народ.
