Darby Bible Translation

New American Standard Bible

  • Evil in the Last Days

    But this know, that in [the] last days difficult times shall be there;
  • “Difficult Times Will Come”

    But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
  • for men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, evil speakers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, profane,
  • For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
  • without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, of unsubdued passions, savage, having no love for what is good,
  • unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,
  • traitors, headlong, of vain pretensions, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;
  • treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
  • having a form of piety but denying the power of it: and from these turn away.
  • holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.
  • For of these are they who are getting into houses, and leading captive silly women, laden with sins, led by various lusts,
  • For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses,
  • always learning, and never able to come to [the] knowledge of [the] truth.
  • always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
  • Now in the same manner in which Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, thus these also withstand the truth; men corrupted in mind, found worthless as regards the faith.
  • Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith.
  • But they shall not advance farther; for their folly shall be completely manifest to all, as that of those also became.
  • But they will not make further progress; for their folly will be obvious to all, just as Jannes’s and Jambres’s folly was also.
  • All Scripture is God-Breathed

    But *thou* hast been thoroughly acquainted with my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, endurance,
  • Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance,
  • persecutions, sufferings: what [sufferings] happened to me in Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra; what persecutions I endured; and the Lord delivered me out of all.
  • persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord rescued me!
  • And all indeed who desire to live piously in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
  • Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
  • But wicked men and juggling impostors shall advance in evil, leading and being led astray.
  • But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
  • But *thou*, abide in those things which thou hast learned, and [of which] thou hast been fully persuaded, knowing of whom thou hast learned [them];
  • You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them,
  • and that from a child thou hast known the sacred letters, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation, through faith which [is] in Christ Jesus.
  • and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
  • Every scripture [is] divinely inspired, and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for instruction in righteousness;
  • All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
  • that the man of God may be complete, fully fitted to every good work.
  • so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
