Preach the Word

I testify before God and Christ Jesus, who is about to judge living and dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom,

Отже, я свідкую тобі перед Богом і Христом Ісусом, що Він має судити живих і мертвих за Свого прихо́ду та за Свого Царства.

proclaim the word; be urgent in season [and] out of season, convict, rebuke, encourage, with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Проповідуй Слово, допоминайся вча́сно-невча́сно, докоряй, забороняй, переконуй з терпеливістю та з наукою.

3

For the time shall be when they will not bear sound teaching; but according to their own lusts will heap up to themselves teachers, having an itching ear;

Настане бо час, коли здорової науки не будуть триматись, але за своїми пожадливостями виберуть собі вчителі́в, щоб вони їхні ву́ха вле́щували.

and they will turn away their ear from the truth, and will have turned aside to fables.

Вони слух свій від правди відвернуть та до байо́к нахи́ляться.

But *thou*, be sober in all things, bear evils, do [the] work of an evangelist, fill up the full measure of thy ministry.

Але ти будь пи́льний у всьому, терпи лихо, виконуй працю благові́сника, сповня́й свою службу.

For *I* am already being poured out, and the time of my release is come.

Бо я вже за жертву стаю, і час відхо́ду мого вже настав.

7

I have combated the good combat, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Я змагався добрим зма́гом, свій біг закінчи́в, віру зберіг.

8

Henceforth the crown of righteousness is laid up for me, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will render to me in that day; but not only to me, but also to all who love his appearing.

Наостанку мені призначається вінок праведности, якого мені того дня дасть Господь, Суддя праведний; і не тільки мені, але й усім, хто при́хід Його полюбив.

Personal Concerns

Use diligence to come to me quickly;

Подба́й незаба́ром прибути до мене.

for Demas has forsaken me, having loved the present age, and is gone to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.

Бо Дима́с мене кинув, цей вік полюбивши, і пішов до Солу́ня, Кри́скент до Гала́тії, Тит до Далма́тії.

Luke alone is with me. Take Mark, and bring [him] with thyself, for he is serviceable to me for ministry.

Зо мною сам тільки Лука́. Візьми Ма́рка, і приведи з собою, бо мені він потрібний для служби.

But Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus.

12

А Тихи́ка послав я в Ефе́с.

The cloak which I left behind [me] in Troas at Carpus's, bring when thou comest, and the books, especially the parchments.

Як будеш іти, то плаща́ принеси́, що його я в Троа́ді зоставив у Ка́рпа, і книжки́, особливо пергамено́ві.

Alexander the smith did many evil things against me. The Lord will render to him according to his works.

Котля́р Олександер нако́їв був лиха чимало мені... Нехай Госпо́дь йому віддасть за його вчинками!

15

Against whom be *thou* also on thy guard, for he has greatly withstood our words.

Стережись його й ти, бо він мі́цно противився нашим словам!

The Lord Remains Faithful

At my first defence no man stood with me, but all deserted me. May it not be imputed to them.

16

При першій моїй обороні жоден не був при мені, але всі поки́нули мене... Хай Госпо́дь їм того не полічить!

17

But the Lord stood with [me], and gave me power, that through me the proclamation might be fully made, and all [those of] the nations should hear; and I was delivered out of the lion's mouth.

17

Але Госпо́дь став при мені та й мене підкріпи́в, щоб проповідь виконалась через мене, та щоб усі погани почули її. І я ви́зволився з пащі ле́в'ячої.

18

The Lord shall deliver me from every wicked work, and shall preserve [me] for his heavenly kingdom; to whom [be] glory for the ages of ages. Amen.

А від усякого вчинку лихого Господь мене ви́зволить та збереже для Свого Небесного Царства. Йому слава на віки вічні, амі́нь!

Erastus remained in Corinth, but Trophimus I left behind in Miletus sick.

Use diligence to come before winter. Eubulus salutes thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and the brethren all.

Попильну́й прийти до зими́. Вітає тебе Евву́л, і Пуд, і Лин, і Кла́вдія, і вся бра́ття.

The Lord Jesus Christ [be] with your spirit. Grace [be] with you.
