Darby Bible Translation

English Standard Version

  • Love for Brothers

    Let brotherly love abide.
  • Sacrifices Pleasing to God

    Let brotherly love continue.
  • Be not forgetful of hospitality; for by it some have unawares entertained angels.
  • Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
  • Remember prisoners, as bound with [them]; those that are evil-treated, as being yourselves also in [the] body.
  • Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.
  • [Let] marriage [be held] every way in honour, and the bed [be] undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers will God judge.
  • Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.
  • Jesus Christ is the Same

[Let your] conversation [be] without love of money, satisfied with [your] present circumstances; for *he* has said, I will not leave thee, neither will I forsake thee.
  • Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
  • So that, taking courage, we may say, The Lord [is] my helper, and I will not be afraid: what will man do unto me?
  • So we can confidently say,
    “The Lord is my helper;
    I will not fear;
what can man do to me?”
  • Remember your leaders who have spoken to you the word of God; and considering the issue of their conversation, imitate their faith.
  • Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.
  • Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday, and to-day, and to the ages [to come].
  • Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
  • Be not carried away with various and strange doctrines; for [it is] good that the heart be confirmed with grace, not meats; those who have walked in which have not been profited by [them].
  • Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them.
  • We have an altar of which they have no right to eat who serve the tabernacle;
  • We have an altar from which those who serve the tenta have no right to eat.
  • for of those beasts whose blood is carried [as sacrifices for sin] into the [holy of] holies by the high priest, of these the bodies are burned outside the camp.
  • For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy places by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin are burned outside the camp.
  • Wherefore also Jesus, that he might sanctify the people by his own blood, suffered without the gate:
  • So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood.
  • therefore let us go forth to him without the camp, bearing his reproach:
  • Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured.
  • for we have not here an abiding city, but we seek the coming one.
  • For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.
  • Sacrifices and Prayer

By him therefore let us offer [the] sacrifice of praise continually to God, that is, [the] fruit of [the] lips confessing his name.
  • Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.
  • But of doing good and communicating [of your substance] be not forgetful, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
  • Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
  • Obey your leaders, and be submissive; for *they* watch over your souls as those that shall give account; that they may do this with joy, and not groaning, for this [would be] unprofitable for you.
  • Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.
  • Pray for us: for we persuade ourselves that we have a good conscience, in all things desirous to walk rightly.
  • Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things.
  • But I much more beseech [you] to do this, that I may the more quickly be restored to you.
  • I urge you the more earnestly to do this in order that I may be restored to you the sooner.
  • Benediction and Final Greetings

But the God of peace, who brought again from among [the] dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, in [the power of the] blood of [the] eternal covenant,
  • Benediction

Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,
  • perfect you in every good work to the doing of his will, doing in you what is pleasing before him through Jesus Christ; to whom [be] glory for the ages of ages. Amen.
  • equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in usb that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
  • But I beseech you, brethren, bear the word of exhortation, for it is but in few words that I have written to you.
  • Final Greetings

I appeal to you, brothers,c bear with my word of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly.
  • Know that our brother Timotheus is set at liberty; with whom, if he should come soon, I will see you.
  • You should know that our brother Timothy has been released, with whom I shall see you if he comes soon.
  • Salute all your leaders, and all the saints. They from Italy salute you.
  • Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those who come from Italy send you greetings.
  • Grace [be] with you all. Amen.
  • Grace be with all of you.
