Jesus Our Apostle and High Priest

Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of [the] heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Jesus,

1

Отож, святі брати́, учасники небесного покли́кання, уважайте на Апо́стола й Первосвященика нашого ісповідання, Ісуса,

2

who is faithful to him that has constituted him, as Moses also in all his house.

2

що вірний Тому́, Хто настанови́в Його, як був і Мойсей у всім домі Його,

3

For *he* has been counted worthy of greater glory than Moses, by how much he that has built it has more honour than the house.

3

бо гідний Він вищої слави понад Мойсея, поскільки будівни́чий має більшу честь, аніж дім.

4

For every house is built by some one; but he who has built all things [is] God.

4

Усякий бо дім хтось будує, а Той, хто все збудував, — то Бог.

5

And Moses indeed [was] faithful in all his house, as a ministering servant, for a testimony of the things to be spoken after;

5

І Мойсей вірний був у всім домі Його, як слуга, на свідоцтво того, що сказати повинно було́.

6

but Christ, as Son over his house, whose house are *we*, if indeed we hold fast the boldness and the boast of hope firm to the end.

Христос же, як Син, у Його домі. А дім Його — ми, коли тільки відвагу й похвалу́ надії доде́ржимо певними аж до кінця.

Do Not Harden Your Hearts

Wherefore, even as says the Holy Spirit, To-day if ye will hear his voice,

Тому́ то, як каже Дух Святий: „Сьогодні, як голос Його ви почуєте,

8

harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness;

8

не робіть затверді́лими ваших серде́ць, як під час наріка́нь, за дня випробо́вування на пустині,

9

where your fathers tempted [me], by proving [me], and saw my works forty years.

де Мене випробо́вували отці ваші, Мене випробо́вували, і бачили працю Мою сорок років.

10

Wherefore I was wroth with this generation, and said, They always err in heart; and *they* have not known my ways;

10

Через це Я розгнівався був на той рід і сказав: Постійно вони блу́дять серцем, вони не пізнали доріг Моїх,

11

so I swore in my wrath, If they shall enter into my rest.

11

тому́ Я присягнув у гніві Своїм, що вони до Мого́ відпочинку не вві́йдуть“!

The Dangers of Unbelief

See, brethren, lest there be in any one of you a wicked heart of unbelief, in turning away from [the] living God.

12

Стережіться, брати́, щоб у комусь із вас не було злого серця невірства, що воно відступало б від Бога Живого!

13

But encourage yourselves each day, as long as it is called To-day, that none of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

13

Але кожного дня заохочуйте один о́дного, доки зветься „Сьогодні“, щоб запеклим не став котри́й з вас через підступ гріха.

14

For we are become companions of the Christ if indeed we hold the beginning of the assurance firm to the end;

Бо ми стали учасниками Христа, коли тільки почате життя ми затри́маємо певним аж до кінця,

15

in that it is said, To-day if ye will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation;

15

аж поки говориться: „Сьогодні, як голос Його ви почуєте, не робіть затверділими ваших серде́ць, як під час наріка́нь“!

16

(for who was it, who, having heard, provoked? but [was it] not all who came out of Egypt by Moses?

16

Котрі бо, почувши, розгнівали Бога? Чи не всі, хто з Єгипту вийшов з Мойсеєм?

17

And with whom was he wroth forty years? [Was it] not with those who had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

17

На ко́го ж Він „гнівався був сорок ро́ків?“ Хіба не на тих, хто згрішив, що їхні „кості в пустині полягли?“

18

And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to those who had not hearkened to the word?

18

Проти ко́го Він „був присягався, що не вві́йдуть вони до Його відпочинку, „як не проти неслухняних?

19

And we see that they could not enter in on account of unbelief;)

19

І ми бачимо, що вони не змогли ввійти за невірство.
