The Woman on the Beast

And one of the seven angels, which had the seven bowls, came and spoke with me, saying, Come here, I will shew thee the sentence of the great harlot who sits upon the many waters;

И тогда один из семи ангелов с семью чашами подошёл ко мне и сказал: "Пойдем, я покажу тебе, какое наказание послано великой блуднице, что сидит над многими водами.

with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication; and they that dwell on the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

Земные цари предавались с ней блуду, и те, кто живёт на земле, напивались допьяна вином её блуда".

And he carried me away in spirit to a desert; and I saw a woman sitting upon a scarlet beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

И оказался я во власти духа, который перенёс меня в пустыню. Там я увидел женщину, сидящую на красном звере. Этот зверь был весь покрыт богохульственными именами, и было у него семь голов с десятью рогами.

And the woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and had ornaments of gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and the unclean things of her fornication;

Женщина была одета в пурпурные и красные одежды, и на ней были золотые украшения, драгоценные камни и жемчуга. В руке у неё была золотая чаша, полная мерзости и грязи её блуда.

and upon her forehead a name written, Mystery, great Babylon, the mother of the harlots, and of the abominations of the earth.

На лбу у неё было начертано имя с тайным значением: "Великий город Вавилон, мать блудниц и всяческой мерзости на земле".

And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. And I wondered, seeing her, with great wonder.

И я увидел, что она пьяна кровью Божьих святых и кровью тех, кто умер, свидетельствуя об Иисусе. И увидев её, я поразился.

The Mystery Explained

And the angel said to me, Why hast thou wondered? *I* will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast which carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.

Ангел спросил у меня: "Чему ты удивляешься? Я объясню тебе, в чём тайное значение этой женщины и зверя с семью головами и десятью рогами, на котором она сидит.

The beast which thou sawest was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and go into destruction: and they who dwell on the earth, whose names are not written from the founding of the world in the book of life, shall wonder, seeing the beast, that it was, and is not, and shall be present.

Зверь, которого ты видел, был когда-то живым, сейчас же он мёртв. Но ещё восстанет он из бездны и отправится на погибель. И те из живущих на земле, чьи имена не вписаны в книгу жизни от начала мира, удивятся, увидев зверя, ибо он был жив когда-то, не жив сейчас, и всё же явится снова.

Here is the mind that has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains, whereon the woman sits.

Чтобы всё это понять, нужна мудрость. Семь голов — это семь холмов, на которых сидит женщина, они же и семь царей.

And there are seven kings: five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; and when he comes he must remain [only] a little while.

Первые пятеро уже умерли, один ещё жив, а последний ещё не явился. Когда же он явится, то недолго ему суждено здесь оставаться.

And the beast that was and is not, he also is an eighth, and is of the seven, and goes into destruction.

Зверь, который когда-то был жив, а сейчас неживой, — это восьмой царь, один из семи, и идёт он к своей гибели.

And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have not yet received a kingdom, but receive authority as kings one hour with the beast.

Десять рогов, что ты видишь, — это десять царей, которые ещё не начали править, но получат они власть править каждый по одному часу вместе со зверем.

These have one mind, and give their power and authority to the beast.

У всех десяти царей одни намерения, и отдадут они свою власть зверю.

The Victory of the Lamb

These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them; for he is Lord of lords and King of kings: and they [that are] with him called, and chosen, and faithful.

Они будут воевать с Агнцем, но Он победит их, ибо Он — Господин господствующих и Царь царей вместе со Своими избранными, призванными и верными".

15

And he says to me, The waters which thou sawest, where the harlot sits, are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues.

И сказал мне затем ангел: "Воды, которые ты видишь там, где сидит блудница, — это разные народы, множество племён и языков.

16

And the ten horns which thou sawest, and the beast, these shall hate the harlot, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and shall burn her with fire;

Десять рогов, которые ты видел, и сам зверь будут ненавидеть блудницу и отнимут у неё всё, чем она владеет, и оставят её нагой. Они будут пожирать её тело и жечь её огнём.

17

for God has given to their hearts to do his mind, and to act with one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

Потому что Бог вложил в десять рогов желание исполнить Его волю: отдать зверю власть правления, пока не исполнится слово Божье.

18

And the woman which thou sawest is the great city, which has kingship over the kings of the earth.

Женщина, которую ты видел, — это великий город, господствующий над земными царями".
