Darby Bible Translation

New Living Translation

  • The Book with Seven Seals

And I saw on the right hand of him that sat upon the throne a book, written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals.
  • The Lamb Opens the Scroll

Then I saw a scrolla in the right hand of the one who was sitting on the throne. There was writing on the inside and the outside of the scroll, and it was sealed with seven seals.
  • And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who [is] worthy to open the book, and to break its seals?
  • And I saw a strong angel, who shouted with a loud voice: “Who is worthy to break the seals on this scroll and open it?”
  • And no one was able in the heaven, or upon the earth, or underneath the earth, to open the book, or to regard it.
  • But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll and read it.
  • And *I* wept much because no one had been found worthy to open the book nor to regard it.
  • Then I began to weep bitterly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll and read it.
  • The Lamb is Worthy

And one of the elders says to me, Do not weep. Behold, the lion which [is] of the tribe of Juda, the root of David, has overcome [so as] to open the book, and its seven seals.
  • But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne,b has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
  • And I saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb standing, as slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God [which are] sent into all the earth:
  • Then I saw a Lamb that looked as if it had been slaughtered, but it was now standing between the throne and the four living beings and among the twenty-four elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which represent the sevenfold Spiritc of God that is sent out into every part of the earth.
  • and it came and took [it] out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
  • He stepped forward and took the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne.
  • And when it took the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell before the Lamb, having each a harp and golden bowls full of incenses, which are the prayers of the saints.
  • And when he took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp, and they held gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.
  • And they sing a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open its seals; because thou hast been slain, and hast redeemed to God, by thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation,
  • And they sang a new song with these words:
“You are worthy to take the scroll
and break its seals and open it.
For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God
from every tribe and language and people and nation.
  • and made them to our God kings and priests; and they shall reign over the earth.
  • And you have caused them to become
a Kingdom of priests for our God.
And they will reignd on the earth.”
  • The Lamb Exalted

    And I saw, and I heard [the] voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and their number was ten thousands of ten thousands and thousands of thousands;
  • Then I looked again, and I heard the voices of thousands and millions of angels around the throne and of the living beings and the elders.
  • saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that has been slain, to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
  • And they sang in a mighty chorus:
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered —
    to receive power and riches
    and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and blessing.”
  • And every creature which is in the heaven and upon the earth and under the earth, and [those that are] upon the sea, and all things in them, heard I saying, To him that sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb, blessing, and honour, and glory, and might, to the ages of ages.
  • And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang:
“Blessing and honor and glory and power
belong to the one sitting on the throne
and to the Lamb forever and ever.”
  • And the four living creatures said, Amen; and the elders fell down and did homage.
  • And the four living beings said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped the Lamb.
