The First Seal: Rider on a White Horse

And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as a voice of thunder, Come [and see].

Я видел, как Ягненок открыл первую из семи печатей, и затем услышал, как одно из четырех живых существ сказало громоподобным голосом:
— Подойди!

And I saw: and behold, a white horse, and he that sat upon it having a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went forth conquering and that he might conquer.

Я посмотрел и увидел белого коня. На нем сидел вооруженный луком всадник, которому был дан венец. Он выехал как победитель, и чтобы победить.41

The Second Seal: War

And when it opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, Come [and see].

Когда Ягненок снял вторую печать, я услышал, как второе живое существо сказало:
— Подойди!

And another, a red horse, went forth; and to him that sat upon it, to him it was given to take peace from the earth, and that they should slay one another; and there was given to him a great sword.

И вышел другой конь, огненно-рыжий. На нем сидел вооруженный длинным мечом всадник, которому была дана власть лишить землю мира, чтобы люди на ней убивали друг друга.

The Third Seal: Famine

And when it opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, Come [and see]. And I saw: and behold, a black horse, and he that sat upon it having a balance in his hand.

Когда Ягненок снял третью печать, я услышал, как третье живое существо сказало:
— Подойди!
Я увидел вороного коня. Сидящий на нем всадник держал в руке весы.

And I heard as a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, A choenix of wheat for a denarius, and three choenixes of barley for a denarius: and do not injure the oil and the wine.

И я услышал со стороны четырех живых существ голос, говорящий:
— Одну меру42 пшеницы — за динарий,43 и три меры44 ячменя — за динарий, но не повреди масла и вина!

The Fourth Seal: Death

And when it opened the fourth seal, I heard [the voice of] the fourth living creature saying, Come [and see].

Когда Ягненок снял четвертую печать, я услышал голос четвертого существа. Оно сказало:
— Подойди!

And I saw: and behold, a pale horse, and he that sat upon it, his name [was] Death, and hades followed with him; and authority was given to him over the fourth of the earth to slay with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and by the beasts of the earth.

Я увидел мертвенно-бледного коня. Его всадника звали Смерть, а за ним следовал ад. Им была дана власть над четвертой частью земли, чтобы губить людей мечом, голодом, эпидемиями и дикими зверями.

The Fifth Seal: Martyrs

And when it opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of them that had been slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held;

and they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O sovereign Ruler, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell upon the earth?

Они громко закричали:
— До каких пор, святой и истинный Владыка, Ты не будешь судить и мстить живущим на земле за нашу кровь?

And there was given to them, to each one a white robe; and it was said to them that they should rest yet a little while, until both their fellow-bondmen and their brethren, who were about to be killed as they, should be fulfilled.

Каждому из них была дана белая одежда, и им было сказано подождать еще некоторое время, пока число их сотрудников и братьев, которые будут убиты так же, как и они, не достигнет своей полноты.

The Sixth Seal: Terror

And I saw when it opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as hair sackcloth, and the whole moon became as blood,

Потом я увидел, как Ягненок снял шестую печать. Тогда вдруг произошло сильное землетрясение,45 и солнце стало черным, как рубище, а луна стала красной, как кровь.46

and the stars of heaven fell upon the earth, as a fig tree, shaken by a great wind, casts its unseasonable figs.

Небесные звезды упали на землю, как незрелый инжир падает с деревьев от сильного порыва ветра.47

And the heaven was removed as a book rolled up, and every mountain and island were removed out of their places.

Небо свернулось, как свиток,48 и все горы и острова были сдвинуты со своих мест.

15

And the kings of the earth, and the great, and the chiliarchs, and the rich, and the strong, and every bondman and freeman, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains;

Цари земли, высокопоставленные чиновники, полководцы, богатые и власть имущие, и все люди — рабы и свободные — попрятались в пещерах и расщелинах гор.49

and they say to the mountains and to the rocks, Fall on us, and have us hidden from [the] face of him that sits upon the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb;

— Упадите на нас, — умоляли они горы и скалы, — спрячьте нас50 от лица Сидящего на троне и от гнева Ягненка!

17

because the great day of his wrath is come, and who is able to stand?
