David Again Spares Saul

And the Ziphites came to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, facing the waste?

Зифиты пришли к Саулу в Гиву и сказали:
— Разве Давид не прячется на холме Хахила, что напротив Иешимона?

And Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.

Саул спустился в пустыню Зиф с тремя тысячами лучших израильтян, чтобы искать там Давида.

And Saul encamped in the hill of Hachilah, which faces the waste, by the way side. And David abode in the wilderness; and when he saw that Saul had come after him into the wilderness,

Саул разбил свой лагерь рядом с дорогой на холм Хахила, что напротив Иешимона, но Давид стоял в пустыне. Когда он увидел, что Саул последовал за ним туда,

David sent out spies, and learned that Saul was certainly come.

And David arose and came to the place where Saul had encamped; and David beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host; and Saul lay within the wagon-defence, and the people were encamped round about him.

Давид отправился в путь и пришел туда, где разбил свой лагерь Саул. Он увидел, где Саул и начальник войска Авнер, сын Нира, легли спать. Саул лежал в центре того места, где расположился лагерь, а войско находилось вокруг него.

And David spake and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab's brother, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee.

Давид спросил хетта Ахимелеха и Авишая, брата Иоава, сына Саруи:
— Кто спустится вместе со мной в лагерь к Саулу?
— Я спущусь с тобой, — сказал Авишай.

And David and Abishai came to the people by night, and behold, Saul lay sleeping within the wagon-defence, and his spear stuck in the ground at his head; and Abner and the people lay round about him.

Давид и Авишай пришли к войску ночью и видят: Саул спит в лагере, а его копье воткнуто в землю у его изголовья. Авнер и воины лежали вокруг него.

And Abishai said to David, God has delivered thine enemy into thy hand this day; and now let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear, even to the ground once, and I will not do it the second time.

Авишай сказал Давиду:
— Сегодня Бог отдал врага в твои руки. Позволь же мне пригвоздить его к земле одним ударом копья. Мне даже не понадобится второго удара.

9

And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not; for who can stretch forth his hand against Jehovah's anointed, and be guiltless?

Но Давид сказал Авишаю:
— Не губи его. Кто может поднять руку на Господнего помазанника и остаться невиновным?

10

And David said, [As] Jehovah liveth, Jehovah will surely smite him; either his day shall come to die, or he shall descend into battle and perish.

Верно, как и то, что жив Господь, — сказал он, — Господь Сам сразит его. Либо придет его время, и он умрет, либо он пойдет в бой и погибнет.

11

Jehovah forbid that I should stretch forth my hand against Jehovah's anointed! But now take, I pray thee, the spear that is at his head, and the cruse of water, and let us go.

Но не приведи Господь мне поднять руку на Господнего помазанника. Возьми-ка копье и кувшин для воды у его изголовья, и пойдем.

12

And David took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul's head; and they went away, and no man saw [it], and none knew [it], and none awaked, for they were all asleep; for a deep sleep from Jehovah had fallen upon them.

Давид взял копье и кувшин для воды у изголовья Саула, и они ушли. Никто не видел и не знал об этом, и никто не проснулся. Все они спали, потому что Господь погрузил их в глубокий сон.

David Reproves Abner

And David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of a hill afar off; a great space [being] between them.

Давид перешел на другую сторону и встал на вершине горы вдали, между ними было большое расстояние.

14

And David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Answerest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who art thou that criest to the king?

Он закричал войску и Авнеру, сыну Нира:
— Авнер! Разве ты не ответишь мне?
Авнер ответил:
— Кто ты такой, что зовешь царя?

And David said to Abner, Art not thou a man? and who is like to thee in Israel? and why hast thou not guarded thy lord the king? for one of the people came in to destroy the king thy lord.

Давид сказал:
— Ведь ты мужчина? Кто в Израиле подобен тебе? Почему же ты не охранял твоего господина царя? Некто из народа приходил, чтобы погубить твоего господина царя.

16

This thing is not good which thou hast done. As Jehovah liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not guarded your master, Jehovah's anointed. And now see where the king's spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his head.

Скверно же ты поступил! Верно, как и то, что жив Господь, ты и твои люди заслуживаете смерти, потому что вы не охраняли вашего господина, помазанника Господа. Посмотри вокруг себя. Где копье царя и кувшин для воды, которые были у его изголовья?

And Saul knew David's voice, and said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king.

Саул узнал голос Давида и сказал:
— Твой ли это голос, Давид, сын мой?
— Это мой голос, господин мой, царь, — ответил Давид

And he said, Why does my lord thus pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in my hand?

и добавил: — Зачем мой господин преследует своего слугу? Что я сделал и в каком зле повинен?

19

And now, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If Jehovah have moved thee against me, let him accept an oblation; but if the sons of men, cursed be they before Jehovah; for they have driven me out this day from adhering to the inheritance of Jehovah, saying, Go, serve other gods.

Пусть же мой господин, царь, выслушает слова своего слуги. Если Господь настроил тебя против меня, то я совершу жертвоприношение Ему. Но если это сделали люди, пусть они будут прокляты перед Господом! Они прогнали меня от моей доли в Господнем наследии и сказали: «Ступай, служи другим богам!»99

20

And now, let not my blood fall to the earth far from the face of Jehovah; for the king of Israel is come out to seek a single flea, as when they hunt a partridge on the mountains.

Не дай же моей крови пролиться на землю вдали от Господа. Царь Израиля ищет меня, как блоху, гоняется за мной по горам, как за куропаткой.

Saul Acknowledges his Sin

And Saul said, I have sinned: return, my son David; for I will no more do thee harm, because my life was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have acted foolishly, and have erred exceedingly.

Саул сказал:
— Я согрешил. Вернись, Давид, сын мой. Сегодня моя жизнь была для тебя драгоценной, и я не буду больше пытаться причинить тебе вред. Я поступал как безумец и совершил огромную ошибку.

22

And David answered and said, Behold the king's spear, and let one of the young men come over and fetch it.

— Вот копье царя, — ответил Давид. — Пусть кто-нибудь из твоих молодых слуг перейдет сюда и возьмет его.

23

And Jehovah will render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness; for Jehovah gave thee into [my] hand this day, and I would not stretch forth my hand against Jehovah's anointed.

23

Господь вознаграждает каждого человека за его праведность и верность. Сегодня Господь отдал тебя в мои руки, но я не поднял руки на Господнего помазанника.

24

And behold, as thy life was highly esteemed this day in mine eyes, so let my life be highly esteemed in the eyes of Jehovah, that he may deliver me out of all distress.

Пусть как твоя жизнь была сегодня для меня драгоценной, так ценится у Господа моя жизнь, и пусть Он избавит меня от всякой беды.

25

And Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt certainly do [great things], and shalt certainly prevail. And David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.

Саул сказал Давиду:
— Благословен ты, сын мой Давид, ты совершишь великие дела и, несомненно, преуспеешь.
И Давид пошел своим путем, а Саул вернулся домой.
