The Seventh Day, God Rests

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

Так было завершено сотворение неба и земли и всего, что есть и обитает там.5

And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.

К седьмому дню Бог закончил труд, который Он совершал, и на седьмой день Он отдыхал от всех Своих дел.

So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.

Бог благословил седьмой день и сделал его святым, потому что в этот день Он отдыхал от Своего труда, который Он делал и завершил.

The Creation of Man and Woman

These are the generations
of the heavens and the earth when they were created,
in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.

When no bush of the fielda was yet in the landb and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up — for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground,

and a mistc was going up from the land and was watering the whole face of the ground —

then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.

тогда Господь Бог создал человека из земного праха8 и вдунул ему в ноздри дыхание жизни,9 и человек стал живым существом.

And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Затем Господь Бог посадил сад на востоке, в Эдеме, и поселил там человека, которого Он создал.

And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Господь Бог вырастил из земли все виды деревьев — приятных на вид и пригодных для пищи. Посреди же сада росли дерево жизни и дерево познания добра и зла.10

A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers.

Из Эдема вытекала река, орошавшая сад, а далее она разделялась на четыре потока.

The name of the first is the Pishon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.

Первый называется Пишон: он течет вокруг всей земли Хавила, где есть золото.

And the gold of that land is good; bdellium and onyx stone are there.

Золото в той земле хорошее, и еще там есть пахучая смола и оникс.

The name of the second river is the Gihon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Cush.

And the name of the third river is the Tigris, which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

Третья река называется Тигр,12 она течет к востоку от Ашшура.13 А четвертая река — это Евфрат.

The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.

Господь Бог поселил человека в Эдемском саду, чтобы он возделывал сад и заботился о нем.

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden,

Господь Бог заповедал человеку: «Можешь есть плоды с любого дерева в саду,

17

but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eatd of it you shall surely die.”

17

но не ешь с дерева познания добра и зла, потому что в день, когда ты съешь плод с него, ты непременно умрешь».14

Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit fore him.”

Господь Бог сказал: «Нехорошо человеку быть одному. Я создам ему помощника под стать».

19

Now out of the ground the Lord God had formedf every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name.

Господь Бог создал из земли всех зверей полевых и всех птиц небесных. Затем Он привел их к человеку, чтобы увидеть, как тот их назовет; и как назвал человек каждое живое творение, так и стало ему имя.

20

The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adamg there was not found a helper fit for him.

Так человек дал имена всему скоту, всем птицам небесным и всем полевым зверям.
Но для Адама15 не нашлось подходящего помощника.

21

So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.

Тогда Господь Бог погрузил человека в глубокий сон, и пока тот спал, взял одно из его ребер и закрыл это место плотью.

22

And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he madeh into a woman and brought her to the man.

Из ребра, которое Он вынул из человека, Господь Бог создал женщину и привел ее к нему.

Then the man said,
“This at last is bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called Woman,
because she was taken out of Man.”i

Человек сказал:

«Вот теперь это кость от костей моих
и плоть от плоти моей:
она будет называться „женщина“,16
потому что была взята от мужчины».

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

24

Поэтому оставит человек отца и мать и соединится со своей женой, и двое станут одной плотью.

25

And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.

25

И Адам, и его жена были наги, но не испытывали стыда.
