And the king rose in the night and said to his servants, “I will tell you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we are hungry. Therefore they have gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the open country, thinking, ‘When they come out of the city, we shall take them alive and get into the city.’”

And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now shew you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we be hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.

So the king arose in the night and said to his servants, “Let me now tell you what the Syrians have done to us. І встав цар уночі й сказав своїм слу́гам: „Розкажу́ я вам, що́ нам зробили сирійці. Вони знають, що ми голодні, і повихо́дили з табо́ру, щоб схова́тися на полі, говорячи: „Коли ті повихо́дять із міста, то ми схо́пимо їх живих, та й уві́йдемо до міста!“

— Я скажу вам, что сделали арамеи. Они знают, что мы голодаем, и покинули лагерь, чтобы спрятаться в поле, думая: «Они непременно выйдут, мы возьмем их живыми и войдем в город». -
І цар встав уночі, і сказав своїм слугам: Я сповіщу вам, що нам учинила Сирія! Вони взнали, що ми голодуємо, вийшли з табору і заховалися в полі, кажучи: Вийдуть з міста, і ми захопимо їх живими та ввійдемо в місто!
