Solomon Worships at Gibeon

Solomon the son of David established himself in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him and made him exceedingly great.

І зміцнився Соломо́н, син Давидів, над царством своїм, а Господь, Бог його, був із ним та ви́соко звели́чив його.

2

Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges, and to all the leaders in all Israel, the heads of fathers’ houses.

І сказав Соломон до всього Ізраїля, до тисячників та сотників, і до су́ддів, і до всіх начальників, до всього Ізраїля, до голі́в ба́тьківських родів.

And Solomon, and all the assembly with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon, for the tent of meeting of God, which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness, was there.

І пішли Соломон та ввесь збір із ним до па́гірка, що в Ґів'оні, бо там була скинія Божого заповіту, яку зробив Мойсей, раб Господній, у пустині.

(But David had brought up the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim to the place that David had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.)

Але Божого ковчега Давид переніс із Кір'ят-Єаріму туди, де пригото́вив йому місце Давид, бо він поставив йому скинію в Єрусалимі.

Moreover, the bronze altar that Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, had made, was there before the tabernacle of the Lord. And Solomon and the assembly sought ita out.

А мідяно́го же́ртівника, що зробив був Веселії́л, син Урії, сина Хурового, він поставив перед скинією Господньою. І звертався до нього Соломон та збір.

And Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before the Lord, which was at the tent of meeting, and offered a thousand burnt offerings on it.

І зійшов Соломон туди перед Господнє лице на мідяний же́ртівник, що належав до скинії заповіту, і приніс на ньому тисячу цілопа́лень.

Solomon Prays for Wisdom

In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask what I shall give you.”

Тієї ночі явився Бог Соломонові та й сказав йому: „Зажадай, чого дати тобі!“

And Solomon said to God, “You have shown great and steadfast love to David my father, and have made me king in his place.

І сказав Соломон до Бога: „Ти зробив був велику милість з батьком моїм Давидом, і настановив царем мене замість ньо́го.

9

O Lord God, let your word to David my father be now fulfilled, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.

9

Тепер, Господи, Боже, нехай буде ви́повнене слово Твоє до батька мого Давида, бо Ти настанови́в мене царем над народом числе́нним, як порох землі.

10

Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of yours, which is so great?”

10

Дай тепер мені мудрість та знання́, щоб умів я вихо́дити й входити перед цим народом, бо хто зможе судити цей великий Твій наро́д?“

God answered Solomon, “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked for possessions, wealth, honor, or the life of those who hate you, and have not even asked for long life, but have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may govern my people over whom I have made you king,

І сказав Бог до Соломона: „За те, що оце було на серці твоїм, і ти не жадав багатства, маєтків та слави, ані душі ворогів своїх, а також довгих днів не жадав ти, а жадав для себе мудрости та знання́, щоб судити народ Мій, над яким Я настанови́в тебе царем,

wisdom and knowledge are granted to you. I will also give you riches, possessions, and honor, such as none of the kings had who were before you, and none after you shall have the like.”

то дасться тобі мудрість та знання, а багатство, і маєтки та славу Я дам тобі такі, яких не було́ між царями перед тобою, і по тобі не бу́де таких!“

So Solomon came fromb the high place at Gibeon, from before the tent of meeting, to Jerusalem. And he reigned over Israel.

І прийшов Соломон із па́гірка, що в Ґів'оні, до Єрусалиму, від скинії заповіту, і зацарював над Ізраїлем.

Solomon Given Wealth

Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen. He had 1,400 chariots and 12,000 horsemen, whom he stationed in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem.

І зібрав Соломон колесни́ць та верхівці́в, — і було в нього тисяча й чотири сотні колесни́ць та дванадцять тисяч верхівці́в, і він порозмі́щував їх по колесни́чних містах та при царі в Єрусалимі.

And the king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stone, and he made cedar as plentiful as the sycamore of the Shephelah.

І цар зібрав в Єрусалимі срібла та золота, мов камі́ння, а ке́дрів зібрав, щодо числе́нности, як сикомо́р, що в Шефелі.

And Solomon’s import of horses was from Egypt and Kue, and the king’s traders would buy them from Kue for a price.

16

А ко́ней, що були в Соломона, приво́дили з Єгипту та з Кеве; царські купці́ купували їх з Кеве.

17

They imported a chariot from Egypt for 600 shekelsc of silver, and a horse for 150. Likewise through them these were exported to all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Syria.

І ходили вони, і вивозили з Єгипту колесни́цю за шість сотень срібла, а коня — за сотню й п'ятдесят. І так вони виво́зили все це своєю рукою для всіх царів хіттійських та царів сирійських.
