Bless the Lord, O my soul!
O Lord my God, you are very great!
You are clothed with splendor and majesty,

Благослови Господа, душе моя! Господи, Боже мій, дивно ти великий, ти зодягнувся величчєм і красою;

2

covering yourself with light as with a garment,
stretching out the heavens like a tent.

Ти сьвітлом, як шатою, покрився, розіпняв небеса, як плахту наметну;

3

He lays the beams of his chambers on the waters;
he makes the clouds his chariot;
he rides on the wings of the wind;

Поставив двори свої над водами, обертаєш хмари на колесницю для себе, ти несешся на крилах вітру;

4

he makes his messengers winds,
his ministers a flaming fire.

4

Ангели твої в тебе послами, слуги твої — огонь пожираючий.

5

He set the earth on its foundations,
so that it should never be moved.

Він утвердив землю на підвалинах її; вона не захитається по віки;

6

You covered it with the deep as with a garment;
the waters stood above the mountains.

Безоднями покрив її, як одежою, води стояли понад горами.

7

At your rebuke they fled;
at the sound of your thunder they took to flight.

Перед грозою твоєю погнались, перед голосом грому твого помчались далеко.

8

The mountains rose, the valleys sank down
to the place that you appointed for them.

Гори піднялися, долини спустились до місця, котре призначив для них.

9

You set a boundary that they may not pass,
so that they might not again cover the earth.

Визначив їм гряницю, і не перейдуть її; не вернуться назад, покрити землю.

You make springs gush forth in the valleys;
they flow between the hills;

Із жерел посилаєш у долини потоки: шумлять вони проміж горами;

they give drink to every beast of the field;
the wild donkeys quench their thirst.

Напувають всю зьвірину з поля; дикі ослята гасять смагу свою;

Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell;
they sing among the branches.

Над ними кублиться небесне птаство, між віттєм голос їх роздається.

13

From your lofty abode you water the mountains;
the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work.

Ти напуваєш гори з висоти твоєї; земля насичується плодом творива твого.

14

You cause the grass to grow for the livestock
and plants for man to cultivate,
that he may bring forth food from the earth

Ти кажеш рости траві для скота і зеленинї на вжиток людям: щоб хлїба достачити із землї,

15

and wine to gladden the heart of man,
oil to make his face shine
and bread to strengthen man’s heart.

І вино, щоб веселило серце чоловіка; щоб міг оливою лице намастити, і щоб хлїб покріпив серце чоловіка.

16

The trees of the Lord are watered abundantly,
the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.

Насичаються дерева Божі, кедри Ливанські, що посадив їх,

In them the birds build their nests;
the stork has her home in the fir trees.

На них гнїздиться птаство; на кипарисах бузько знайшов собі домівку.

18

The high mountains are for the wild goats;
the rocks are a refuge for the rock badgers.

Високі гори для козлів диких, скелї — сховиско лисицям.

19

He made the moon to mark the seasons;a
the sun knows its time for setting.

Він сотворив місяць, щоб часи значити; сонце знає, коли заходити.

20

You make darkness, and it is night,
when all the beasts of the forest creep about.

20

Ти розкинеш темряву, і ніч настала; тодї ворушиться вся зьвірина лїсна;

21

The young lions roar for their prey,
seeking their food from God.

21

Молоді леви ричать за здобичею, і щоб жадати поживи для себе від Бога.

22

When the sun rises, they steal away
and lie down in their dens.

Зійде сонце, вони вертають назад і в своїх норах лягають.

23

Man goes out to his work
and to his labor until the evening.

23

Чоловік виходить до свого дїла, і до своєї працї аж до вечора.

24

O Lord, how manifold are your works!
In wisdom have you made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.

Як багато, Господи, творива твого! Все премудростю сотворив єси, земля повна багацтва твого.

25

Here is the sea, great and wide,
which teems with creatures innumerable,
living things both small and great.

Те море, велике і на всї сторони широке: там ворушиться безлїч зьвірини, малої і великої.

26

There go the ships,
and Leviathan, which you formed to play in it.b

26

Там судна дорогу верстають, за ними кит, котрого сотворив єси, щоб там побивався.

27

These all look to you,
to give them their food in due season.

27

Всї вони тебе дожидають, щоб їжу їх у свій час дав їм.

28

When you give it to them, they gather it up;
when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.

28

Ти даєш їм, вони збирають; ти відчиняєш руку твою, вони добром насичаються.

29

When you hide your face, they are dismayed;
when you take away their breath, they die
and return to their dust.

Ти одвертаєш лице твоє, вони лякаються; возьмеш духи їх, вони, визївнувши, у порох повертаються.

30

When you send forth your Spirit,c they are created,
and you renew the face of the ground.

Пішлеш твого духа, будуть сотворені, та й обновиш лице землї.

May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
may the Lord rejoice in his works,

Слава Господня буде по віки, Господь буде радїти творивом своїм;

32

who looks on the earth and it trembles,
who touches the mountains and they smoke!

Він погляне на землю, і вона тремтить; доторкнеться гір, і вони димують.

33

I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have being.

Сьпівати му Господеві, поки життя мого, сьпівати му псальми Богові мому, як довго життя стане.

34

May my meditation be pleasing to him,
for I rejoice in the Lord.

Нехай буде люба йому думка моя, і звеселюся в Господї.

35

Let sinners be consumed from the earth,
and let the wicked be no more!
Bless the Lord, O my soul!
Praise the Lord!

Нехай щезнуть грішники із землї, і беззаконних нехай не буде. Благослови, душе моя, Господа! Аллилуя*!
