    and spurned the counsel of the Most High.
  • They rebelled against the words of God,
    scorning the counsel of the Most High.
  • So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor;
    they fell down, with none to help.
  • That is why he broke them with hard labor;
    they fell, and no one was there to help them.

  • they saw the deeds of the Lord,
    his wondrous works in the deep.
  • They, too, observed the LORD’s power in action,
    his impressive works on the deepest seas.
  • For he commanded and raised the stormy wind,
    which lifted up the waves of the sea.
  • He spoke, and the winds rose,
    stirring up the waves.
