  • My Rock and My Fortress

    Of David.

    Blessed be the Lord, my rock,
    who trains my hands for war,
    and my fingers for battle;
  • A psalm of David.

    Praise the LORD, who is my rock.
    He trains my hands for war
    and gives my fingers skill for battle.
  • he is my steadfast love and my fortress,
    my stronghold and my deliverer,
    my shield and he in whom I take refuge,
    who subdues peoplesa under me.
  • He is my loving ally and my fortress,
    my tower of safety, my rescuer.
    He is my shield, and I take refuge in him.
    He makes the nationsa submit to me.
  • O Lord, what is man that you regard him,
    or the son of man that you think of him?
  • O LORD, what are human beings that you should notice them,
    mere mortals that you should think about them?
  • Man is like a breath;
    his days are like a passing shadow.
  • For they are like a breath of air;

  • Bow your heavens, O Lord, and come down!
    Touch the mountains so that they smoke!

  • may our cattle be heavy with young,
    suffering no mishap or failure in bearing;b
    may there be no cry of distress in our streets!
  • and may our oxen be loaded down with produce.
    May there be no enemy breaking through our walls,
    no going into captivity,
    no cries of alarm in our town squares.
  • Blessed are the people to whom such blessings fall!
    Blessed are the people whose God is the Lord!
  • Yes, joyful are those who live like this!
    Joyful indeed are those whose God is the LORD.
