  • Joy Comes with the Morning

    A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of the temple.

    I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up
    and have not let my foes rejoice over me.
  • The Blessedness of Answered Prayer

    A Psalm. A Song at the dedication of the house of David.

    I will extol You, O Lord, for You have lifted me up,
    And have not let my foes rejoice over me.
  • O Lord my God, I cried to you for help,
    and you have healed me.
  • O Lord my God, I cried out to You,
    And You healed me.
  • O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol;
    you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.a
  • O Lord, You brought my soul up from the grave;
    You have kept me alive, [a]that I should not go down to the pit.
  • Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints,
    and give thanks to his holy name.b
  • Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His,
    And give thanks at the remembrance of [b]His holy name.
  • For his anger is but for a moment,
    and his favor is for a lifetime.c
    Weeping may tarry for the night,
    but joy comes with the morning.
  • For His anger is but for a moment,
    His favor is for life;
    Weeping may endure for a night,
    But [c]joy comes in the morning.
  • As for me, I said in my prosperity,
    “I shall never be moved.”
  • Now in my prosperity I said,
    “I shall never be [d]moved.”
  • By your favor, O Lord,
    you made my mountain stand strong;
    you hid your face;
    I was dismayed.
  • Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong;
    You hid Your face, and I was troubled.
  • To you, O Lord, I cry,
    and to the Lord I plead for mercy:
  • I cried out to You, O Lord;
    And to the Lord I made supplication:
  • “What profit is there in my death,d
    if I go down to the pit?e
    Will the dust praise you?
    Will it tell of your faithfulness?
  • “What profit is there in my blood,
    When I go down to the pit?
    Will the dust praise You?
    Will it declare Your truth?
  • Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!
    O Lord, be my helper!”
  • Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me;
    Lord, be my helper!”
  • You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
    you have loosed my sackcloth
    and clothed me with gladness,
  • You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
    You have put off [e]my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,
  • that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
    O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
  • To the end that my [f]glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.
    O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
