Darby Bible Translation

  • Do Not Forsake Me, O Lord

    A Psalm of David, for the memorial offering.

    O Lord, rebuke me not in your anger,
    nor discipline me in your wrath!
  • O Lord, Don't Rebuke Me in Your Wrath

    {A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance.} Jehovah, rebuke me not in thy wrath; neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
  • For your arrows have sunk into me,
    and your hand has come down on me.
  • For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand cometh down upon me.
  • There is no soundness in my flesh
    because of your indignation;
    there is no health in my bones
    because of my sin.
  • There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine indignation; no peace in my bones, because of my sin.
  • For my iniquities have gone over my head;
    like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.
  • For mine iniquities are gone over my head: as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
  • My wounds stink and fester
    because of my foolishness,
  • My wounds stink, they are corrupt, because of my foolishness.
  • I am utterly bowed down and prostrate;
    all the day I go about mourning.
  • I am depressed; I am bowed down beyond measure; I go mourning all the day.
  • For my sides are filled with burning,
    and there is no soundness in my flesh.
  • For my loins are full of burning, and there is no soundness in my flesh.
  • I am feeble and crushed;
    I groan because of the tumult of my heart.
  • I am faint and broken beyond measure; I roar by reason of the agitation of my heart.
  • O Lord, all my longing is before you;
    my sighing is not hidden from you.
  • Lord, all my desire is before thee, and my sighing is not hid from thee.
  • My heart throbs; my strength fails me,
    and the light of my eyes — it also has gone from me.
  • My heart throbbeth, my strength hath left me; and the light of mine eyes, it also is no more with me.
  • My friends and companions stand aloof from my plague,
    and my nearest kin stand far off.
  • My lovers and mine associates stand aloof from my stroke; and my kinsmen stand afar off.
  • Those who seek my life lay their snares;
    those who seek my hurt speak of ruin
    and meditate treachery all day long.
  • And they that seek after my life lay snares [for me]; and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and meditate deceits all the day long.
  • But I am like a deaf man; I do not hear,
    like a mute man who does not open his mouth.
  • But I, as a deaf [man], hear not; and am as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.
  • I have become like a man who does not hear,
    and in whose mouth are no rebukes.
  • Yea, I am as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.
  • But for you, O Lord, do I wait;
    it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer.
  • For in thee, Jehovah, do I hope: *thou* wilt answer, O Lord my God.
  • For I said, “Only let them not rejoice over me,
    who boast against me when my foot slips!”
  • For I said, Let them not rejoice over me! When my foot slipped, they magnified [themselves] against me.
  • For I am ready to fall,
    and my pain is ever before me.
  • For I am ready to halt, and my pain is continually before me.
  • I confess my iniquity;
    I am sorry for my sin.
  • For I will declare mine iniquity, I am grieved for my sin.
  • But my foes are vigorous, they are mighty,
    and many are those who hate me wrongfully.
  • But mine enemies are lively, they are strong; and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied:
  • Those who render me evil for good
    accuse me because I follow after good.
  • And they that render evil for good are adversaries unto me; because I pursue what is good.
  • Do not forsake me, O Lord!
    O my God, be not far from me!
  • Forsake me not, Jehovah; O my God, be not far from me.
  • Make haste to help me,
    O Lord, my salvation!
  • Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation.
