New Living Translation

  • Lead Me in Your Righteousness

    To the choirmaster: for the flutes. A Psalm of David.

    Give ear to my words, O Lord;
    consider my groaning.
  • For the choir director: A psalm of David, to be accompanied by the flute.

    O LORD, hear me as I pray;
    pay attention to my groaning.
  • Give attention to the sound of my cry,
    my King and my God,
    for to you do I pray.
  • Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God,
    for I pray to no one but you.
  • O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice;
    in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for youa and watch.
  • Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD.
    Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.
  • For you are not a God who delights in wickedness;
    evil may not dwell with you.
  • O God, you take no pleasure in wickedness;
    you cannot tolerate the sins of the wicked.
  • The boastful shall not stand before your eyes;
    you hate all evildoers.
  • Therefore, the proud may not stand in your presence,
    for you hate all who do evil.
  • You destroy those who speak lies;
    the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
  • You will destroy those who tell lies.
    The LORD detests murderers and deceivers.
  • But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love,
    will enter your house.
    I will bow down toward your holy temple
    in the fear of you.
  • Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house;
    I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe.
  • Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness
    because of my enemies;
    make your way straight before me.
  • Lead me in the right path, O LORD,
    or my enemies will conquer me.
    Make your way plain for me to follow.
  • For there is no truth in their mouth;
    their inmost self is destruction;
    their throat is an open grave;
    they flatter with their tongue.
  • My enemies cannot speak a truthful word.
    Their deepest desire is to destroy others.
    Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave.
    Their tongues are filled with flattery.a
  • Make them bear their guilt, O God;
    let them fall by their own counsels;
    because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out,
    for they have rebelled against you.
  • O God, declare them guilty.
    Let them be caught in their own traps.
    Drive them away because of their many sins,
    for they have rebelled against you.
  • But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
    let them ever sing for joy,
    and spread your protection over them,
    that those who love your name may exult in you.
  • But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
    let them sing joyful praises forever.
    Spread your protection over them,
    that all who love your name may be filled with joy.
  • For you bless the righteous, O Lord;
    you cover him with favor as with a shield.
  • For you bless the godly, O LORD;
    you surround them with your shield of love.
