New King James Version

  • God Who Judges the Earth

    To the choirmaster: according to Do Not Destroy. A Miktama of David.

    Do you indeed decree what is right, you gods?b
    Do you judge the children of man uprightly?
  • The Just Judgment of the Wicked

    To the Chief Musician. Set to [a]“Do Not Destroy.” A Michtam of David.

    Do you indeed speak righteousness, you silent ones?
    Do you judge uprightly, you sons of men?
  • No, in your hearts you devise wrongs;
    your hands deal out violence on earth.
  • No, in heart you work wickedness;
    You weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth.
  • The wicked are estranged from the womb;
    they go astray from birth, speaking lies.
  • The wicked are estranged from the womb;
    They go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.
  • They have venom like the venom of a serpent,
    like the deaf adder that stops its ear,
  • Their poison is like the poison of a serpent;
    They are like the deaf cobra that stops its ear,
  • so that it does not hear the voice of charmers
    or of the cunning enchanter.
  • Which will not heed the voice of charmers,
    Charming ever so skillfully.
  • O God, break the teeth in their mouths;
    tear out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord!
  • Break[b] their teeth in their mouth, O God!
    Break out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord!
  • Let them vanish like water that runs away;
    when he aims his arrows, let them be blunted.
  • Let them flow away as waters which run continually;
    When he bends his bow,
    Let his arrows be as if cut in pieces.
  • Let them be like the snail that dissolves into slime,
    like the stillborn child who never sees the sun.
  • Let them be like a snail which melts away as it goes,
    Like a stillborn child of a woman, that they may not see the sun.
  • Sooner than your pots can feel the heat of thorns,
    whether green or ablaze, may he sweep them away!c
  • Before your pots can feel the burning thorns,
    He shall take them away as with a whirlwind,
    As in His living and burning wrath.
  • The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance;
    he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked.
  • The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance;
    He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked,
  • Mankind will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous;
    surely there is a God who judges on earth.”
  • So that men will say,
    “Surely there is a reward for the righteous;
    Surely He is God who judges in the earth.”
