King James Bible

  • O God, Do Not Keep Silence

    A Song. A Psalm of Asaph.

    O God, do not keep silence;
    do not hold your peace or be still, O God!
  • God, Don't Keep Silent

    {A Song or Psalm of Asaph.} Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
  • For behold, your enemies make an uproar;
    those who hate you have raised their heads.
  • For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
  • They lay crafty plans against your people;
    they consult together against your treasured ones.
  • They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
  • They say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation;
    let the name of Israel be remembered no more!”
  • They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
  • For they conspire with one accord;
    against you they make a covenant —
  • For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
  • the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
    Moab and the Hagrites,
  • The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
  • Gebal and Ammon and Amalek,
    Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
  • Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
  • Asshur also has joined them;
    they are the strong arm of the children of Lot. Selah
  • Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
  • Do to them as you did to Midian,
    as to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,
  • Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
  • who were destroyed at En-dor,
    who became dung for the ground.
  • Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.
  • Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,
    all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
  • Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
  • who said, “Let us take possession for ourselves
    of the pastures of God.”
  • Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
  • O my God, make them like whirling dust,a
    like chaff before the wind.
  • O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
  • As fire consumes the forest,
    as the flame sets the mountains ablaze,
  • As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
  • so may you pursue them with your tempest
    and terrify them with your hurricane!
  • So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
  • Fill their faces with shame,
    that they may seek your name, O Lord.
  • Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.
  • Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever;
    let them perish in disgrace,
  • Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
  • that they may know that you alone,
    whose name is the Lord,
    are the Most High over all the earth.
  • That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.
