Pillars of Cloud and Fire
When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near. For God said, “Lest the people change their minds when they see war and return to Egypt.”

And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt: -

Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.” -

When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” -

Когда же фараон отпустил народ, Бог не повёл его по дороге земли Филистимской, потому что она близка; ибо сказал Бог: чтобы не раскаялся народ, увидев войну, и не возвратился в Египет.

Як відпустив фараон людей, Бог не повів їх по дорозі до землі Филистимлянської, хоч вона і ближча; бо, сказав собі Бог, народ розкається, як прийдеться йому воювати, та й захоче повернутися в Єгипет.

І сталося, коли фараон відпустив був той народ, то Бог не повів їх дорогою землі филистимської, хоч була близька́ вона. Бо Бог сказав: „Щоб не пожалкував той наро́д, коли він побачить війну, і не вернувся до Єгипту“.

Когда фараон отпустил народ, Бог не повел их через землю филистимлян, хотя так было ближе. Бог сказал:
— Вступив в войну, они могут передумать и вернуться в Египет. -
Коли ж фараон відпустив народ, Бог не повів його дорогою Филистимської землі, хоча було ближче. Оскільки Бог сказав: Щоб часом не каявся народ, коли побачить війну, і не повернувся до Єгипту.
