“Tell the people of Israel to turn back and encamp in front of Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, in front of Baal-zephon; you shall encamp facing it, by the sea.
„Скажи Ізраїлевим синам, і нехай вони повернуть, і нехай ота́боряться перед Пі-Гахіротом, між Міґдолом і між морем, перед Баал-Цефоном. Навпроти нього ота́боритесь над морем.
For Pharaoh will say of the people of Israel, ‘They are wandering in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.’
І скаже фараон про Ізраїлевих синів: заблудились вони в землі цій, за́мкнено пустиню для них.
And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.” And they did so.
І вчиню запеклим фараонове серце, і він буде гнатися за вами, а Я прославлюся через фараона та через військо його. І пізнають єги́птяни, що Я — Господь!“ І вони вчинили так.
When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, the mind of Pharaoh and his servants was changed toward the people, and they said, “What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?”
І повідомлено царя єгипетського, що втік той наро́д. І змінилося серце фараона та рабів його до того народу, і сказали вони: Що́ це ми зробили, що відпустили Ізраїля від роботи нам?“
So he made ready his chariot and took his army with him,
І запріг він свою колесни́цю, і забрав наро́д свій з собою.
and took six hundred chosen chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt with officers over all of them.
І взяв він шість сотень добі́рних колесни́ць, і всі колесни́ці Єгипту, і трійкових над усіма́ ними.
And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the people of Israel while the people of Israel were going out defiantly.
І Господь учинив запеклим серце фараона, єгипетського царя, — і він погнався за Ізраїлевими синами. Але Ізраїлеві сини виходили сильною рукою!
The Egyptians pursued them, all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and his horsemen and his army, and overtook them encamped at the sea, by Pi-hahiroth, in front of Baal-zephon.
І гналися єги́птяни за ними, уся кіннота, колесни́ці фараонові, і комо́нники його та військо його, — і догнали їх, як вони ота́борилися були над морем, під Пі-Гахіротом, перед Баал-Цефоном.
When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people of Israel cried out to the Lord.
А фараон наближа́вся. І звели Ізраїлеві сини свої очі, аж ось єги́птяни жену́ться за ними! І дуже злякались вони... І кликали Ізраїлеві сини до Господа,
They said to Moses, “Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt?
а Мойсеєві дорікали: „Чи через те, що не було гробів в Єгипті, ти забрав нас умирати в пустині? Що́ це вчинив ти нам, щоб вивести нас із Єгипту?
Is not this what we said to you in Egypt: ‘Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”
Чи це не те саме ми говорили до тебе в Єгипті, кажучи: Позостав нас, і нехай ми робимо Єгиптові! Бо ліпше нам ра́бство Єгиптові, аніж помирати нам у пустині!“
And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.
І сказав Мойсей до народу: „Не бійтеся! Стійте, і побачите спасі́ння Господа, що вчинить вам сьогодні. Бо єги́птян, яких бачите сьогодні, більше не побачите їх уже повіки!
The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
Господь буде воювати за вас, а ви мовчіть!“
The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward.
І промовив Господь до Мойсея: „Що́ ти до Мене кли́чеш? Говори до синів Ізраїлевих, нехай руша́ють!
Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground.
А ти підійми свою палицю, і простягни руку свою на море, і розітни його, — і нехай уві́йдуть Ізраїлеві сини в сере́дину моря, на суходіл.
And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen.
А Я, — ось Я вчиню запеклим серце єги́птянам, і вони вві́йдуть за ними. І буду Я просла́влений через фараона, і через усе його військо, і через колесниці, його, і через комо́нників його.
And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”
I пізнають єги́птяни, що Я — Господь, коли буду Я прославлений через фараона, і через колесниці його, і через комо́нників його!“
Then the angel of God who was going before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them,
І рушив Ангол Божий, що йшов перед Ізраїльським табо́ром, і пішов за ними; і рушив стовп хмари перед ними, і став за ними,
і ввійшов він у сере́дину між та́бір Єгипту й між та́бір Ізраїлів. І була та хмара й темрява для Єгипту, а ніч розсвітлив він для Ізраїля. І не зближався один до о́дного цілу ніч.
Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
І простяг Мойсей руку свою на море, — і Господь гнав море сильним схі́днім вітром ці́лу ніч, і зробив море суходолом, — і розступилася вода.
And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
І ввійшли Ізраїлеві сини в сере́дину моря, як на суходіл, а море було для них муром із прави́ці їхньої та з ліви́ці їхньої.
The Egyptians pursued and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
А єги́птяни гналися, і ввійшли за ними всі фараонові коні й колесни́ці його, та його комо́нники до сере́дини моря.
And in the morning watch the Lord in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic,
І сталося за ранньої сторожі, і поглянув Господь на єгипетський та́бір у стовпі огня й хмари, та й привів у замі́шання єгипетський та́бір.
І поскида́в колеса з колесни́ць його, і вчинив, що йому було́ тяжко ходити. І єги́птяни сказали: „Утікаймо від ізраїльтя́н, бо Господь воює за них з Єгиптом!“
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.”
І промовив Госпо́дь до Мойсея: „Простягни свою руку на море, і нехай ве́рнеться вода на єги́птян, на їхні колесни́ці й на комо́нників їхніх“.
І простяг Мойсей руку свою на море, — і море вернулося, коли настав ранок, до сили своєї, а єги́птяни втікали навпроти нього. І кинув Господь єги́птян у сере́дину моря!
The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, not one of them remained.
І вернулась вода, і позакривала колесни́ці та комо́нників усьому фараоновому військові, що ввійшло за ними в море. Ані жоден із них не зостався!
But the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
А Ізраїлеві сини йшли суходо́лом у сере́дині моря, а море було для них муром із правиці їхньої та з лівиці їхньої.
Thus the Lord saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.
І визволив Господь того дня Ізраїля з єгипетської руки. І бачив Ізра́їль мертвих єги́птян на березі моря.
Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the Lord, and they believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses.
І побачив Ізра́їль сильну руку, яку ви́явив Господь у Єгипті, — і став боятися той народ Господа! І ввірував він у Господа, та в Мойсея, раба Його.
