  • Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire;
    he breaks out against all sound judgment.
  • The Unfriendly Pursue Selfishness

    He that separateth himself seeketh [his] pleasure, he is vehement against all sound wisdom.
  • A fool takes no pleasure in understanding,
    but only in expressing his opinion.
  • A fool hath no delight in understanding, but only that his heart may reveal itself.
  • When wickedness comes, contempt comes also,
    and with dishonor comes disgrace.
  • When the wicked cometh, there cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.
  • The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters;
    the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.
  • The words of a man's mouth are deep waters, [and] the fountain of wisdom is a gushing brook.
  • It is not good to be partial toa the wicked
    or to deprive the righteous of justice.

    and brings him before the great.

  • The one who states his case first seems right,
    until the other comes and examines him.
  • He that is first in his own cause [seemeth] just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.
  • The lot puts an end to quarrels
    and decides between powerful contenders.
  • The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.
  • A brother offended is more unyielding than a strong city,
    and quarreling is like the bars of a castle.
  • A brother offended is [harder to be won] than a strong city; and contentions are as the bars of a palace.
  • From the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach is satisfied;
    he is satisfied by the yield of his lips.
  • A man's belly is satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; with the increase of his lips is he satisfied.
  • Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
    and those who love it will eat its fruits.
