  • A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches,
    and favor is better than silver or gold.
  • Choose a good reputation over great riches;
    being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold.
  • The rich and the poor meet together;
    the Lord is the Maker of them all.
  • The rich and poor have this in common:
    The LORD made them both.
  • The prudent sees danger and hides himself,
    but the simple go on and suffer for it.
  • A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions.
    The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.
  • The reward for humility and fear of the Lord
    is riches and honor and life.a
  • True humility and fear of the LORD

  • Words of the Wise

    Incline your ear, and hear the words of the wise,
    and apply your heart to my knowledge,
  • Listen to the words of the wise;

    if all of them are ready on your lips.
  • For it is good to keep these sayings in your heart
    and always ready on your lips.

    even your bed will be snatched from under you.

    that your fathers have set.
  • Don’t cheat your neighbor by moving the ancient boundary markers
