English Standard Version

King James Bible

  • How beautiful are your feet in sandals,
    O noble daughter!
Your rounded thighs are like jewels,
the work of a master hand.
  • Admiration by the Bridegroom

How beautiful are thy feet with shoes, O prince's daughter! the joints of thy thighs are like jewels, the work of the hands of a cunning workman.
  • Your navel is a rounded bowl
    that never lacks mixed wine.
Your belly is a heap of wheat,
    encircled with lilies.
  • Thy navel is like a round goblet, which wanteth not liquor: thy belly is like an heap of wheat set about with lilies.
  • Your two breasts are like two fawns,
    twins of a gazelle.
  • Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins.
  • Your neck is like an ivory tower.
Your eyes are pools in Heshbon,
    by the gate of Bath-rabbim.
Your nose is like a tower of Lebanon,
    which looks toward Damascus.
  • Thy neck is as a tower of ivory; thine eyes like the fishpools in Heshbon, by the gate of Bathrabbim: thy nose is as the tower of Lebanon which looketh toward Damascus.
  • Your head crowns you like Carmel,
    and your flowing locks are like purple;
a king is held captive in the tresses.
  • Thine head upon thee is like Carmel, and the hair of thine head like purple; the king is held in the galleries.
  • How beautiful and pleasant you are,
O loved one, with all your delights!a
  • How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, for delights!
  • Your stature is like a palm tree,
and your breasts are like its clusters.
  • This thy stature is like to a palm tree, and thy breasts to clusters of grapes.
  • I say I will climb the palm tree
and lay hold of its fruit.
Oh may your breasts be like clusters of the vine,
and the scent of your breath like apples,
  • I said, I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof: now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples;
  • and your mouthb like the best wine. She

It goes down smoothly for my beloved,
    gliding over lips and teeth.c
  • And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine for my beloved, that goeth down sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak.
  • I am my beloved’s,
and his desire is for me.
  • The Bride Promises Her Love

I am my beloved's, and his desire is toward me.
  • The Bride Gives Her Love

    Come, my beloved,
let us go out into the fields
    and lodge in the villages;d
  • Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field; let us lodge in the villages.
  • let us go out early to the vineyards
and see whether the vines have budded,
whether the grape blossoms have opened
and the pomegranates are in bloom.
There I will give you my love.
  • Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish, whether the tender grape appear, and the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give thee my loves.
  • The mandrakes give forth fragrance,
and beside our doors are all choice fruits,
    new as well as old,
which I have laid up for you, O my beloved.
  • The mandrakes give a smell, and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits, new and old, which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved.
