The Mountain of the Lord

The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

Слово, що його бачив Іса́я, син Амо́сів, про Юдею та про Єрусалим:

It shall come to pass in the latter days
that the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
and shall be lifted up above the hills;
and all the nations shall flow to it,

І ста́неться на кінці днів, мі́цно поста́влена буде гора́ дому Господнього на шпилі́ гір, і пі́днята буде вона понад згі́р'я, — і поли́нуть до неї всі люди.

and many peoples shall come, and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
and that we may walk in his paths.”
For out of Zion shall go forth the law,a
and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

І пі́дуть числе́нні наро́ди та й скажуть: „Ходіть та збері́мось на го́ру Господню, до дому Бога Якового, і доріг Своїх Він нас навчи́ть, і ми пі́демо стежка́ми Його! Бо ви́йде з Сіону Зако́н, і слово Господнє — з Єрусалиму“.

He shall judge between the nations,
and shall decide disputes for many peoples;
and they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruning hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore.

І Він бу́де судити між лю́дьми, і буде числе́нні наро́ди розсу́джувати. І мечі́ свої перекую́ть вони на лемеші́, а списи́ свої — на серпи́. Не піді́йме меча народ проти наро́ду, і більше не бу́дуть навча́тись війни́!

O house of Jacob,
come, let us walk
in the light of the Lord.

Доме Яковів, — ідіть, і попросту́ємо в світлі Господньому!

The Day of the Lord

For you have rejected your people,
the house of Jacob,
because they are full of things from the east
and of fortune-tellers like the Philistines,
and they strike hands with the children of foreigners.

Бо Ти був покинув наро́да Свого, дім Яковів, — бо по́вні безла́ддя зо схо́ду вони, та ворожби́тів, немов филисти́мляни, і наклада́ють із ді́тьми чужи́нців.

7

Their land is filled with silver and gold,
and there is no end to their treasures;
their land is filled with horses,
and there is no end to their chariots.

І напо́внився край його срі́блом та золотом, — і немає кінця́ його ска́рбам. І напо́внився край його кі́ньми, — і немає кінця колесни́цям його́.

8

Their land is filled with idols;
they bow down to the work of their hands,
to what their own fingers have made.

І напо́внився край його і́долами, — він кла́няється ділу рук своїх, тому́, що зробили були́ Його па́льці, —

9

So man is humbled,
and each one is brought low —
do not forgive them!

і поклонилась люди́на, і чоловік упокори́вся. А Ти їм не дару́й!

10

Enter into the rock
and hide in the dust
from before the terror of the Lord,
and from the splendor of his majesty.

Іди в скелю, і сховайся у по́рох від стра́ху Господнього, і від пишноти́ Його ве́личі!

11

The haughty looks of man shall be brought low,
and the lofty pride of men shall be humbled,
and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.

11

Горді о́чі люди́ни поникнуть, і буде обни́жена лю́дська високість, — і буде високим Сам тільки Госпо́дь того дня!

12

For the Lord of hosts has a day
against all that is proud and lofty,
against all that is lifted up — and it shall be brought low;

Бо настане день Господа Савао́та на все горде й високе, і на все ви́сунене, — і пони́жене буде воно,

13

against all the cedars of Lebanon,
lofty and lifted up;
and against all the oaks of Bashan;

13

і на всі ке́дри лива́нські, високі та ви́сунені, і на всіля́кі баша́нські дуби́,

14

against all the lofty mountains,
and against all the uplifted hills;

14

і на всі го́ри високі, і на всі згір'я підне́сені,

15

against every high tower,
and against every fortified wall;

15

і на всі ба́шти високі, і на всі му́ри стрімкі,

16

against all the ships of Tarshish,
and against all the beautiful craft.

16

і на всі кораблі із Таршішу, і на все, на що ди́вимося пожадли́во!

17

And the haughtiness of man shall be humbled,
and the lofty pride of men shall be brought low,
and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.

17

І пони́зиться гордість люди́ни, й обни́жена буде високість люде́й, — і буде високим Сам тільки Госпо́дь того дня,

18

And the idols shall utterly pass away.

18

а бо́жища зо́всім ми́нуться!

19

And people shall enter the caves of the rocks
and the holes of the ground,b
from before the terror of the Lord,
and from the splendor of his majesty,
when he rises to terrify the earth.

19

І вони пі́дуть до ске́льних пече́р та до по́роху в ями від стра́ху Господнього і від пишноти́ Його ве́личі, коли при́йде Він о́страх збудити на землі!

20

In that day mankind will cast away
their idols of silver and their idols of gold,
which they made for themselves to worship,
to the moles and to the bats,

Покине люди́на того дня божкі́в своїх срібних і божкі́в своїх золотих, що собі нароби́ла була́, щоб вклоня́тись крота́м і кажана́м,

21

to enter the caverns of the rocks
and the clefts of the cliffs,
from before the terror of the Lord,
and from the splendor of his majesty,
when he rises to terrify the earth.

21

щоб піти у пече́ри й розщілини ске́льні від стра́ху Господнього і від слави вели́ччя Його́, коли при́йде Він о́страх збуди́ти на землі!

22

Stop regarding man
in whose nostrils is breath,
for of what account is he?

Відки́нься ж собі від люди́ни, що ві́ддих у носі її, бо за́що її поважа́ти?
