А тепер це послухай, розпе́щена, що безпе́чно сидиш, що гово́риш у серці своїм: „Я, — і більше ніхто! Не буду сидіти вдовою, і не знатиму страти дітей!“

Та при́йдуть на тебе несподі́вано те й те в один день, страта дітей та вді́вство, вони в повній мірі на тебе спаду́ть при усій многоті́ твоїх ча́рів, при силі великій твоїх заклина́нь!

Ти ж бо надію складала на зло́бу свою, говорила: „Ніхто не побачить мене!“ Звела́ тебе мудрість твоя та знання́ твоє, і сказала ти в серці своїм: „Я, — і більше ніхто!“

І при́йде на тебе лихе, що відворожи́ти його ти не зможеш, і на тебе нещастя впаде́, що не зможеш його окупити, і при́йде на тебе рапто́вно спусто́шення, про яке ти не знаєш.

Ставай же з своїми закля́ттями та з бе́зліччю ча́рів своїх, якими ти му́чилася від юна́цтва свого́, — може зможеш ти допомогти́, може ти настраха́єш!

Змучилась ти від великої кількости рад своїх, — хай же стануть і хай допомо́жуть тобі ті, хто небо розрі́зує, хто до зір придивля́ється, хто прові́щує кожного місяця, що має на те́бе прийти!

Ось стали вони, мов солома: огонь їх попа́лить, — не врятують своєї душі з руки по́лум'я, — це не жар, щоб погріти себе, ані по́лум'я, щоб сидіти біля нього.
