Flee for safety, O people of Benjamin,

Утікайте, сини Веніями́на, з сере́дини Єрусалиму, і засурмі́те в сурму́ у Текої, і знак підіймі́ть на Бет-Гаккерем, бо з пі́вночі грізно підно́ситься зло та велике нещастя!
І ви́кореню Я Сіонську дочку́, вродли́ву та ви́пещену.

Приготуйте війну проти неї, вставайте та вдармо опі́вдні! Горе нам, бо минає вже день, бо вже тя́гнуться тіні вечі́рні!

Бо так промовляє Господь Саваот: Постина́йте дере́ва та ва́ла насипте при Єрусалимі! Він те місто, що має зруйно́ване бути, в ньому повно наси́льства:
As a well keeps its water fresh,
so she keeps fresh her evil;
violence and destruction are heard within her;
sickness and wounds are ever before me.

як випри́скує воду свою джерело́, так випри́скує він своє зло. Насилля й грабіж чуті в ньому, перед обличчям Моїм безпере́стань хворо́ба та рана.

Будь на́вчений, Єрусалиме, щоб душа Моя не відверну́лась від тебе, щоб тебе не вчинив Я спусто́шенням, незасе́леним кра́єм!

Так говорить Госпо́дь Савао́т: Позбирають доре́шти оста́нки Ізраїля, мов виноградові ре́штки, — простягни́ свою руку, немов виногра́дар по гро́на!
To whom shall I speak and give warning,

До ко́го я буду казати та сві́дчити буду, — і слуха́тимуть? Необрізане ось їхнє вухо — і слухати уважно не можуть вони, ось слово Господнє для них стало по́сміхом — вони не жада́ють його́!

І гніву Господнього по́вен я став, зму́чився я, його стримуючи, — на вулиці виллю його на дітей та на збір юнакі́в одноча́сно, бо схо́плені будуть чоловік із жінкою, старий із віджи́лим літа́,

і дістануться іншим доми́ їхні, теж поля́ та жінки́. Бо Я руку Свою простягну́ на мешка́нців цієї землі, говорить Госпо́дь.

everyone is greedy for unjust gain;

everyone deals falsely.

Бо вони від мало́го свого й до великого, — усі пожадли́ві на зи́ски, і від пророка та аж до священика роблять неправду.

І рани наро́ду Мого́ легковажно лікують, говорячи: „Мир, мир“, а миру нема!

Чи вони засоромилися, що гидо́ту робили? не засоро́милися ані тро́хи вони й застида́тись не вміють. Тому́ то впадуть між упа́лими в ча́сі, — коли їх навіщу́ Я, спіткну́ться, говорить Госпо́дь.
Thus says the Lord:
“Stand by the roads, and look,
and ask for the ancient paths,
where the good way is; and walk in it,
and find rest for your souls.

Так говорить Госпо́дь: На дорогах спині́ться та гляньте, і спитайте про давні стежки́, де то добра дорога, — то нею ідіть, і зна́йдете мир для своєї душі! Та вони відказали: „Не пі́демо!“

І Я сторожі́в був поставив над вами, говорячи: Прислуха́йтесь до голосу сурми́! Та вони відказали: „Не будем прислу́хуватись!

Послухай, ти зе́мле: Ось Я веду́ на наро́д цей лихе, плід їхніх думо́к, бо до слів Моїх не прислуха́лись вони, а Зако́ном Моїм погорди́ли!
What use to me is frankincense that comes from Sheba,
or sweet cane from a distant land?

Наві́що Мені те кади́ло, що з Шеви прихо́дить, запашни́й очере́т із далекого кра́ю? Цілопа́лення ваші не любі Мені, ваші ж жертви Мені не приємні!

‘Behold, I will lay before this people
stumbling blocks against which they shall stumble;

neighbor and friend shall perish.’”

Так говорить Госпо́дь: Ось прихо́дить наро́д із півні́чного кра́ю, і збу́джується люд великий із кі́нців землі.
They lay hold on bow and javelin;
they are cruel and have no mercy;

they ride on horses,
set in array as a man for battle,
against you, O daughter of Zion!”

Лу́ка та ра́тище міцно тримають, жорстокі вони й милосердя не мають, їхній голос, як море реве́, і гарцю́ють на ко́нях вони. Ушико́ваний, мов чоловік той до бо́ю, на те́бе, о до́чко Сіону!

Як почули ми звістку про ньо́го, омлі́ли нам руки, обняла́ нас триво́га та біль, немов в породі́ллі.
Go not out into the field,

До́чко наро́ду Мого́, — вере́тою підпережи́сь та качайся у по́пелі! Справ жало́бу собі, немов над одноро́дженим, голосі́ння гірке́, — бо при́йде знена́цька руїнник на нас!
“I have made you a tester of metals among my people,
that you may know and test their ways.

Спали́лося ду́хало, від огню́ зникло о́ливо, — нада́рмо стара́нно розто́плювано, бо злих не відді́лено.
