On the fifth day of the month (it was the fifth year of the exile of King Jehoiachin),
П'ятого дня місяця, — це п'ятий рік поло́ну царя Єгояки́ма, —
the word of the Lord came to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the Chebar canal, and the hand of the Lord was upon him there.
сталося Господнє слово до Єзекіїля, сина Бузі́, священика, у халдейському кра́ї над річкою Кева́р, і була там над ним Господня рука.
І побачив я, аж ось бурхли́вий вітер насува́в із пі́вночі, велика хмара та палю́чий огонь; а навколо неї — ся́йво, а з сере́дини його — ніби блискуча мідь, з-посеред огню.
And from the midst of it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had a human likeness,
А з сере́дини його — подоба чотирьох живих істо́т, а оце їхній вид: вони мали подобу люди́ни.
but each had four faces, and each of them had four wings.
І кожна мала чотири обли́ччі, і кожна з них мала чотири крилі́.
Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the sole of a calf’s foot. And they sparkled like burnished bronze.
А їхня нога — нога про́ста, а стопа́ їхньої ноги — як стопа телячої ноги, і вони ся́яли, як ніби блискуча мідь.
Under their wings on their four sides they had human hands. And the four had their faces and their wings thus:
А під їхніми кри́лами були лю́дські руки на чотирьох сторона́х їхніх, і вони четверо мали свої обличчя та свої кри́ла.
their wings touched one another. Each one of them went straight forward, without turning as they went.
Їхні кри́ла приляга́ли одне до о́дного, не оберта́лися в ході своїй, — кожне ходило просто наперед себе.
As for the likeness of their faces, each had a human face. The four had the face of a lion on the right side, the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and the four had the face of an eagle.
А подо́ба їхнього обличчя — обличчя люди́ни та обличчя лева мали вони четверо з прави́ці, а обличчя вола мали вони четверо з ліви́ці, і обличчя орла мали вони четверо.
Such were their faces. And their wings were spread out above. Each creature had two wings, each of which touched the wing of another, while two covered their bodies.
А їхні обличчя та їхні кри́ла були розді́лені вгорі́; у кожного двоє крил злучувалнся одне з о́дним, і двоє закривали їхнє тіло.
І кожна ходила просто перед себе. Туди, куди бажа́в дух ходити, вони йшли, не оберта́лися в ході своїй.
As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches moving to and fro among the living creatures. And the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.
А подоба тих істо́т була на вид вугі́лля з огню, вони палали на вигляд смолоски́пів; той огонь прохо́джувався поміж істо́тами. І огонь мав сяйво, і з огню вихо́дила бли́скавка.
And the living creatures darted to and fro, like the appearance of a flash of lightning.
І ті живі істо́ти бігали й верталися, немов бли́скавка.
І придивився я до тих істот, аж ось по одно́му колесі на землі при тих живих істотах, при чотирьох їхніх обличчях.
As for the appearance of the wheels and their construction: their appearance was like the gleaming of beryl. And the four had the same likeness, their appearance and construction being as it were a wheel within a wheel.
Вид тих коле́с та їхній ви́ріб — як вигляд хризолі́ту, й одна подоба їм чотирьом, а їхній вид та їхній виріб — ніби ко́лесо в колесі.
Вони ходили в ході своїй на чотири бо́ки, не оберта́лися в ході́ своїй.
And their rims were tall and awesome, and the rims of all four were full of eyes all around.
А їхні обі́ддя були високі та страшні́; і їхнє обі́ддя довко́ла в чотирьох їх було повне оче́й.
And when the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures rose from the earth, the wheels rose.
І коли ходили ті живі істоти, ходили й ті коле́са при них; а коли ті істоти підіймалися з-над землі, підіймалися й ті коле́са.
Куди бажав дух ходити, ішли, куди мав той дух іти; і ті коле́са підіймалися з ними, бо в коле́сах був дух істот.
When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those rose from the earth, the wheels rose along with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
Коли ті йшли, ходили й вони; а коли ті стояли — стояли й вони; а коли ті підійма́лися з-над землі, підіймалися з ними й ті коле́са, бо був дух істот у тих коле́сах.
Over the heads of the living creatures there was the likeness of an expanse, shining like awe-inspiring crystal, spread out above their heads.
А на головах тих живих істот була подоба небозво́ду, ніби грізний кришта́ль, розтя́гнений над їхніми голова́ми згори.
And under the expanse their wings were stretched out straight, one toward another. And each creature had two wings covering its body.
А під цим небозво́домбули їхні про́сті кри́ла, зве́рнені одне до о́дного. У кожної було по двоє крил, що закривали їм їхні тіла́.
And when they went, I heard the sound of their wings like the sound of many waters, like the sound of the Almighty, a sound of tumult like the sound of an army. When they stood still, they let down their wings.
А коли вони йшли, чув я шум їхніх крил, як шум великої води, як голос Всемогу́тнього, звук га́мору, як табо́ру. А коли вони ставали, опадали їхні крила.
And there came a voice from above the expanse over their heads. When they stood still, they let down their wings.
І розлягався голос з-над небозво́ду, що над їхньою головою. І коли вони ставали, опадали їхні кри́ла.
А згори небозво́ду, що над їхньою головою, була подоба трону на вигляд каменя сапфі́ру; а на подобі трону була подоба на вигляд люди́ни, на ньому згори.
І бачив я ніби блискучу мідь, на вид огню в сере́дині його навколо, від виду сте́гон його й вище, а від виду сте́гон його й до долу бачив я ніби огонь та ся́йво навко́ло нього.
Like the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around.
Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard the voice of one speaking.
