Prophecy to the Mountains of Israel
“And you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord.
“And you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord.
А ти, сину лю́дський, пророкуй на Ізраїлеві го́ри, та й скажеш: Ізраїлеві го́ри, послухайте сло́ва Госпо́днього!
Thus says the Lord God: Because the enemy said of you, ‘Aha!’ and, ‘The ancient heights have become our possession,’
Так говорить Госпо́дь Бог: За те, що ворог говорить на вас „Ага́!“ і вічні па́гірки стали вам за спа́дщину,
therefore prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord God: Precisely because they made you desolate and crushed you from all sides, so that you became the possession of the rest of the nations, and you became the talk and evil gossip of the people,
тому́ пророкуй та й скажеш: Так говорить Господь Бог: За те, що пусто́шено й то́птано вас знавко́ла, щоб були ви спа́дком для останку наро́дів, і були ви взяті на кі́нчик язика́ й на балакани́ну наро́ду,
therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God: Thus says the Lord God to the mountains and the hills, the ravines and the valleys, the desolate wastes and the deserted cities, which have become a prey and derision to the rest of the nations all around,
тому, Ізраїлеві го́ри, послухайте слова Господа Бога: Так говорить Господь Бог до гір та до згі́р'їв, до рі́чищ та до доли́н, і до спустоші́лих руїн, і до опу́щених міст, що стали за здо́бич та за посміхо́висько для решти тих наро́дів, що навколо.
therefore thus says the Lord God: Surely I have spoken in my hot jealousy against the rest of the nations and against all Edom, who gave my land to themselves as a possession with wholehearted joy and utter contempt, that they might make its pasturelands a prey.
Так говорить Господь Бог: Поправді кажу́, що огнем Своєї ревности говорив Я на решту тих наро́дів та на ввесь Едо́м, що взяли собі Мій Край за спа́док у ра́дості всього серця, у пого́рді душі, щоб ви́гнати його на здо́бич.
Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I have spoken in my jealous wrath, because you have suffered the reproach of the nations.
Тому́ пророкуй на Ізраїлеву землю, та й скажеш до гір, до згір'їв, до рі́чищ та до долин: Так говорить Господь Бог: Ось Я говорив у ре́вності Своїй та в гніві Своїм за те, що ви носили га́ньбу наро́дів.
Therefore thus says the Lord God: I swear that the nations that are all around you shall themselves suffer reproach.
Тому так говорить Господь Бог: Прирікаючи, Я підняв Свою ру́ку, що ті люди, які навколо вас, — вони понесу́ть свою га́ньбу!
“But you, O mountains of Israel, shall shoot forth your branches and yield your fruit to my people Israel, for they will soon come home.
А ви, Ізраїлеві гори, розпустіть ваше ві́ття, і бу́дете прино́сити плід свій для Мого наро́ду Ізраїля, бо вони збли́зилися, щоб прийти.
For behold, I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you shall be tilled and sown.
Бо ось Я прийду́ до вас, і зверну́ся до вас, — і ви бу́дете обро́блені та обсіяні.
And I will multiply people on you, the whole house of Israel, all of it. The cities shall be inhabited and the waste places rebuilt.
І розмно́жу на вас люди́ну, увесь Ізраїлів дім, усього його, — і будуть засе́лені ці міста́, а руїни будуть забудо́вані.
And I will multiply on you man and beast, and they shall multiply and be fruitful. And I will cause you to be inhabited as in your former times, and will do more good to you than ever before. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
І розмно́жу на вас люди́ну та скоти́ну, і вони помно́жаться та розпло́дяться, і позасе́люю вас, як за вашої давни́ни, і буду чинити вам краще, як за ваших поча́тків, і ви пізна́єте, що Я — Госпо́дь!
I will let people walk on you, even my people Israel. And they shall possess you, and you shall be their inheritance, and you shall no longer bereave them of children.
I попрова́джу на вас люди́ну, мій наро́д Ізраїлів, і вони пося́дуть тебе, і станеш ти їм на спа́док, і не будеш уже більше позбавля́ти їх дітей.
Thus says the Lord God: Because they say to you, ‘You devour people, and you bereave your nation of children,’
Так говорить Господь Бог: За те, що говорять про вас: Ти їси люди́ну, і позбавляєш наро́д свій дітей,
therefore you shall no longer devour people and no longer bereave your nation of children, declares the Lord God.
тому́ ти не будеш уже їсти люди́ни, і більше не позбавиш свій наро́д дітей, говорить Господь Бог!
And I will not let you hear anymore the reproach of the nations, and you shall no longer bear the disgrace of the peoples and no longer cause your nation to stumble, declares the Lord God.”
І не почуєш уже ти більше га́ньби від пога́н, і нару́ги наро́дів не будеш більше носи́ти, і не вчи́ниш більше, щоб наро́д твій спотика́вся, говорить Госпо́дь Бог“!
The Lord’s Concern for His Holy Name
The word of the Lord came to me:

І було́ мені слово Госпо́днє таке:
“Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their own land, they defiled it by their ways and their deeds. Their ways before me were like the uncleanness of a woman in her menstrual impurity.
„Сину лю́дський, Ізраїлів дім — вони жили на землі своїй, та й занечи́стили її своєю дорогою та своїми вчинками, — як нечистість жінки в час нечистоти її стала їхня дорога перед Моїм лицем!
So I poured out my wrath upon them for the blood that they had shed in the land, for the idols with which they had defiled it.
І вилив Я гнів Свій на них за ту кров, яку вилили вони на землю, та бовва́нами своїми занечи́стили її.
I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the countries. In accordance with their ways and their deeds I judged them.
І розсіяв Я їх серед народів, і вони були розпоро́шені по краї́нах. За їхньою дорогою та за їхніми вчинками розсуди́в Я їх.
But when they came to the nations, wherever they came, they profaned my holy name, in that people said of them, ‘These are the people of the Lord, and yet they had to go out of his land.’
І коли прийшли вони до тих наро́дів, куди поприхо́дили, то знева́жили святе Моє Йме́ння, коли стали до них говорити: „Вони — наро́д Господа, та з землі Його повихо́дили!“
But I had concern for my holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations to which they came.
І зми́лувався Я над Своїм святим Ім'я́м, що його знева́жив Ізра́їлів дім серед наро́дів, куди вони поприхо́дили.
I Will Put My Spirit Within You
“Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations to which you came.
“Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations to which you came.
Тому́ скажи до Ізраїлевого дому: Так говорить Госпо́дь Бог: Не для вас Я роблю́ це, Ізраїлів доме, а тільки для святого Свого Йме́ння, яке ви знева́жили серед народів, куди ви поприхо́дили.
And I will vindicate the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them. And the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Lord God, when through you I vindicate my holiness before their eyes.
І освячу́ Я велике Ім'я́ Своє́, знева́жене серед народів, що ви знева́жили серед них, і пізнають ті люди, що Я — Госпо́дь, — говорить Господь Бог, — коли Я покажу́ Свою святість серед вас на їхніх оча́х.
I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land.
І візьму́ вас із тих народів, і позбираю вас зо всіх країв, і приведу́ вас до вашої землі.
I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you.
І покроплю́ вас чистою водою, — і станете чисті; зо всіх ваших нечисто́т і зо всіх ваших бовва́нів очи́щу вас.
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
І дам вам нове́ серце, і ново́го духа дам у ваше нутро́, і викину камінне серце з вашого тіла, і дам вам серце із плоті.
І духа Свого́ дам Я до вашого нутра́, і зроблю́ Я те, що уста́вами Моїми будете ходити, а постано́ви Мої будете стерегти́ та вико́нувати.
You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.
І ви будете сидіти в краю́, якого Я дав вашим батька́м, і будете Мені наро́дом, а Я буду вам Богом!
And I will deliver you from all your uncleannesses. And I will summon the grain and make it abundant and lay no famine upon you.
І спасу́ вас від усіх ваших нечисто́т, і покличу збіжжя, і помно́жу його, і не дам на вас голоду.
I will make the fruit of the tree and the increase of the field abundant, that you may never again suffer the disgrace of famine among the nations.
І намно́жу плід де́рева та врожай поля, щоб ви більше не набиралися со́рому через голод між наро́дами.
Then you will remember your evil ways, and your deeds that were not good, and you will loathe yourselves for your iniquities and your abominations.
І згадаєте ви про ваші доро́ги лихі та про ваші вчинки, що не добрі, і будете бри́дитися самих себе за свої провини та за гидо́ти свої.
It is not for your sake that I will act, declares the Lord God; let that be known to you. Be ashamed and confounded for your ways, O house of Israel.
Не для вас Я це роби́тиму, — говорить Госпо́дь Бог, — нехай буде це вам відо́ме! Зашарі́йтеся та посоромтеся ваших доріг, Ізраїлів до́ме!
“Thus says the Lord God: On the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste places shall be rebuilt.
Так говорить Господь Бог: Того дня, коли Я очи́щу вас зо всіх ваших провин, то позасе́люю ці міста́, і будуть забудо́вані руїни.
And the land that was desolate shall be tilled, instead of being the desolation that it was in the sight of all who passed by.
А спусто́шена земля буде обро́блювана за те, що була́ спусто́шенням на оча́х кожного перехожого.
And they will say, ‘This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden, and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are now fortified and inhabited.’
І скажуть: Цей опустоші́лий край став як той еде́нський садо́к, а ці міста, пова́лені й попусто́шені та поруйно́вані, тепер укрі́плені та заме́шкані!
Then the nations that are left all around you shall know that I am the Lord; I have rebuilt the ruined places and replanted that which was desolate. I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it.
І пізнають наро́ди, які зостануться навколо вас, що Я, Господь, забудував поруйно́ване, засадив спустоші́ле. Я, Господь, говорив це — і зробив!
“Thus says the Lord God: This also I will let the house of Israel ask me to do for them: to increase their people like a flock.
Так говорить Господь Бог: Ще на це прихилю́ся до Ізраїлевого дому, щоб зробити їм: помно́жу їх, як лю́дську ота́ру!
Як освя́чена ота́ра, як отара Єрусалиму в його свята, такі будуть ці поруйно́вані міста́, повні отари лю́дської, — і пізнають вони, що Я — Госпо́дь!“
